They should have put FS1 on 221 and FS2 on 222.

Just put on FS1 HD and have noticed black bars on both sides of the picture, but the bottom score crawl is full screen. I'm wondering if this is just a "startup" glitch or if their doing this on purpose. I hope they will get rid of those black bars soon.

The current programming on FS1 (Fox College Football Kickoff) is full screen HD.

Same here too, however the commercial breaks do have black bars. They do this so all of the bottom screen disclaimers on ads are not covered up by the 24/7 ticker and keep the OAR, while during actual programming the ticker just covers the bottom of the screen, Fox Business does the same thing.

2 213-1 channels? What do SD boxes see?

My D12 SD box shows the DTV logo on 213-1 and MLBN on 213.

Are we finished with new HD additions for this quarter?? Certainly hope not, but SR has been very quiet lately which makes me think we're done for now. Hope I'm wrong.

Probably. I don't think Dish won't add any HD channels until next year. Slim pickings..

He's talking about Directv HD not Dish, but other than ESPN Deportes HD, Thats all for now unless Sixto sees another possible channel in testing.

Which is what I'm wanting to know. But not so much for this current 3rd quarter of 2013; but for the duration of 2013. I'm thinking of D14 in 2014, and whether we would get any additions of basic-cable high definition aside from the latest and speculated.

    From the article:

This is getting to be really dumb. DirecTV should really just do a realignment and stick in a one-hundred block of groupings all the multi-regional (Big Ten Network and, eventually, Pac-12 Network) and especially national sports programming (ESPN screens, CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network, everything not regional that includes Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, the likes of NFL Network, NBA TV, NHL Network, MLB Network, and others like Tennis Channel and Golf Channel, along with MavTV, TVG, Sportsman Channel, Outdoor Channel, Pursuit, etc.). With the current mapping, half are in the 200s and the other half are in the 600s. And the regional-sports programming, which would sensibly deserve a separate one-hundred block grouping all their own (New England Sports Network starts as late as ch. 628), is trending to some teams wanting their own channel. Their numbers are not shrinking but growing.

Still don't get why a few posters say that any more new HD channels added are bottom of the barrel offerings. (Fox Movie, WE, Oxygen, Fuse, TVOne, Velocity are just a few I would watch more often if programming was in HD or SD quality was better.)

I just posted in another thread. If they start to use sub channels like MLB on 213-1, the crunch you are describing goes away and there is plenty of room for all sports channels (other than the packs like EI and ST) in one block of 100 channels.

Yes I agree! I would watch more often if programming was in HD!

I agree, I would like to see DirecTV use this labeling more. They should do it for all the multi-screen channels. For example we could have 610 BTN followed by the alt's, 610-1 BTNa, 610-2 BTNa, 610-3 BTNa, 610-4 BTNa. We could also have 612 P12N followed by the alt's, 612-1 P12CS, 612-2 P12CN, 612-3 P12OR, 612-4 P12WA, 612-5 P12AZ, etc. etc. Also 221 NBCSN followed by 221-1 NBCSa, 215 NHLN followed by NHLa 215-1.

Velocity is in HD. It used to be Discovery HD Theater then just HD Theater. They just forgot to put "HD" in the guide this time. Wikipedia: Velocity (TV channel)

It's in terms of overall viewership, mist are channels that don't have a large number of viewers across the providers. HD won't change that. I'm all for them going HD.

BHN Florida and a few big cities with Time Warner have just about added every HD channel under the sun, even some homely ones.

We Directv Subs just have to pray to our beloved Marvin the Martian up in space to move around a few Satellite's so we can get the same HD luxury.
