Every so often I go to D* main site and click on my package channel listing,in my case Mas Ultra just to see if any english channels were added and I happened to notice in the channel line up they ESPN Deportes 432 with the HD icon right next to.

But we all know it hasn't been added yet.Hopefully its a sign that it is coming down the pike like many have suggested.

So it looks like Directv is moving the ESPN Alternatives to 209-1 / 209-2. This clears up 210 / 211. At first when I saw this, I immediately thought about moving FS1 to 210 and FS2 to 211. Then CBS Sports could be moved to 219.

But now that CBS Sports will be on 221, I am have no clue as to what is going on in the channel lineup... For me a huge reorganization of sports channels needs to occur.

Agree with you totally. Have the main sports channels (ESPN,FOX 1 and 2, Golf, NFL, NHL, MLB etc). in the 200's and keep all RSN'S in the 600's. Just my two cents.

The new SEC network and maybe another ESPN channel will probably go on 210 and 211.

This is EXACTLY what I thought when I saw the ESPN alts moved to 209-1 and 209-2.

Can sd only viewers view the alts if they are on sub channels? I thought I read only HD receivers could. I am curious if this another step in helping phase out sd receivers.

I think you are all getting ahead of yourselves thinking about the sec channel being there, much less getting the channel in the first place. Ad long horn network is a pipe dream at this point. But there is no way either of one belong anywhere but the 600s. Especially the long horn network. Its a single college station, a RSN at best. Sec is in theory on par with big ten, so it can go with the big ten channels in the 600s still a RSN but also available nationally.

That's the big thing that I think should be the determination. Those are RSNs with open access to the entire country. They aren't national channels like espn, where it covers games where the home team can be anywhere in the country. That's a big difference, and I think where the line should be drawn on what ends up in the 200s. It needs to be a station that has home games for many sports and many different leagues all over the country, not just regional.

Yes. SD boxes show all the (-) channels in the guide. i.e. 610-1 BTNa, well at least they were there earlier today, gone now. DirecTV should use this system for the three FCS channels, maybe choose one of the three current FCS (608, 623, 626) slots and start from there. thus we would have, say for example, 608-1 FCS followed by 608-2 FCS, and then 608-3 FCS.

I agree that the SEC network should be in the 600s. I do believe that it will be carried, and what the SEC is asking is that it be basic in the states that have an SEC team (Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Souith Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas) and in the sports pack everywhere else.

As far as the placement of the other sports channels, my view is that if it is in English and in a basic package nationally, it should be in the 200s. If it is in Spanish, it should be in the 400s, and if it is in the sports pack nationally or out-of-market, it should be in the 600s. Under the current contract, that would move Big 10 to the 200s, but if DirecTV carries the SEC network on the terms the SEC is asking, the SEC channel should be in the 600s.

    ESPN3 is not a channel.

I agree. I would like VH1 classics and INSP if it is available.

Yeah, those should definitely be in the 600's. Either that, or the National RSN style channels should go at the end of the sports channels in the 200's. I think an update is due after 10+ years of the lineup being the same. Face it, channels change, the lineup should too.

They have selected games, espn3 carries dozens of games at a time.

ESPN3 (which used to be ESPN 360) is ESPN's term for streaming video over the internet. As Tony said, it is not a channel. Many of the games that are on ESPN3 are also on ESPN Game Plan or ESPN Full Court, and those are available on DirecTV. They are in SD, but the video quality of the streaming video on ESPN3 is not very good, either.

    Dripping...
Just got an e-mail from ESPN saying I should switch providers in order to get the LHN. Out of the five providers listed, AT&T U-Verse, Charter, Cox, Grande and FIOS none of them provide service in our development and we have an Austin mailing address. Neither AT&T or Grande feel that a network expansion to our development of a 1,000+ homes is worth it I guess.
