As far as can be known, "nothing."

3D programming is completely dead now on DIRECTV ...

A regular CINE PPV channel 156, took 3D's former bandwidth slot on the satellite.

    +1

As well as the better responsiveness to new channels added to the OTA database. Like recently when the DECADES ch. was replaced with Start TV on local KCBS-DT 2-2. DECADES moved to a new subchannel on KAZA-DT 54-2. So re-ran the setup on the AM21 and was surprised to see 54-2 added almost immediately.

But anyway, back to topic on HD channel anticipation ...

That's more because KAZADT2 has always been in the database dating back to when it was a bunch of random pay to play channels like VidaTV during the Azteca days, long before the OTA expansion hit the LA market. You just had to do a rescan to pickup the new 54-2 since there was no 54-2 being broadcast at the time of your last scan.

The entries for KAZADT3 (ex-Alfa O) and KAZADT4 (ex-BizTV) are also still in the database and will be readily available in the event KAZA readds a 54-3 or 54-4.

So to take another example in this market ...

When local KCET-DT 28 removed "LINK+" from 28-3 and replaced it with "NHK" moved from 28-4 to help free up bandwidth for their CSA with KLCS-DT 58 (PBS).

And KLCS in turn dropped 58-4 (formerly "FNX") to help free more bandwidth.

This means that both virtual chs. 28-4 and 58-4 are still in DIRECTV's database?

Yep, KCETDT4 and KLCSDT4 are both still in the database.

Markets that got updates with this week's map:
    Albany-Schenectady-Troy NY*
    Austin TX*
    Chicago IL
    Dayton OH*
    Lansing MI*
    Las Vegas NV
    Los Angeles CA
    Medford-Klamath Falls OR
    Providence RI-New Bedford MA*
    Salt Lake City UT
    Terre Haute IN*
    Topeka KS*

    * First time the market got the expansion, the others in the list had their expansions in May and/or July and got some additions this week.

Markets that previously got the expansion:
    Binghamton NY
    Charlottesville VA
    Dallas-Ft Worth TX
    Eureka CA
    Fort Myers-Naples FL
    Idaho Falls-Pocatello ID
    Milwaukee WI
    Rockford IL
    San Diego CA
    Shreveport LA
    South Bend-Elkhart IN
    Spokane WA
    Syracuse NY
    Yakima-Pasco-Richland WA
    Yuma AZ

As for why only these markets and when the rest will get updated. No one who can say anything knows for sure. The first 4 markets to get the expansion back in May were LA, Dallas, Vegas and Salt Lake City. We know LA and Dallas are home to DirecTV's and AT&T's HQs, while the only place the new Local Channel Connector is available right now is Vegas and Salt Lake City. So maybe these are the next markets who will get it, or these are the markets where people participating in a closed field test of it reside.
