Nude definition is confusing to me.

Like strip clubs will say "nude girls" yet they always keep their shoes on.

Thats not really nude then....is it

That would be a matter of opinion...

While I agree with the notion that FOX had a rocky start, if you are implying that UPN NEVER had decent programming on it, that again would be a matter of opinion...

    Very good points.

I'm also reminded of the "Friday Night Lights" situation. FNL's ratings aren't very good, but on average, its viewers have a tendency to have higher income than many shows with higher ratings.

While GolTV and Fox Soccer Channel are in the sports package, Fox Soccer Plus (which apparently will be added on a game-only basis) is $14.99 per month. I imagine that while it may not have as many takers as "more popular" channels, DirecTV may very well earn more money by having this available in HD. Add in GolTV and Fox Soccer Channel, and DirecTV becomes a popular outlet for Soccer fans who need to not only subscribe to Fox Soccer Plus, but the Sports Package as well.

I believe that we will see HD versions of DirecTV's lineup (aside from a few exceptions like channels dropped, or possibly some informercial/PI channels) as well as a few more additions to the HD Extra Package and the premium packages.

Are you calling me "silly", or is the fact that I don't believe DirecTV will offer EVERY HD channel available (the .tv channels for instance) enough to omit me from being "silly"?! ;)

"Married With Children", and later "The Simpsons" were two of Fox's early successes. Outside of them, Fox didn't have as much success...

Fox Soccer Channel HD is launching next week. It's been believed (though not confirmed to my knowledge) that Fox Soccer Plus HD will be added as a part-time channel at the same time.

If the Rugby would be in HD, I'd sign up for it again. Right now, I'm saving the money and just downloading the Tri-Nations off the internet.

I hate to say it but Im a little disappointed in D12 so far. Seriously, I was execting more than what we've seen so far. Don't get me wrong Im glad to see some additions but I really thought they would add more channels that doesn't require a premium package. (Please do not mention 3D channels have been added! Most do not care about 3D in-home viewing and I personally aka my opinion..think its a waste of bandwidth.) Id rather see OutdoorHD, E HD, BBCA HD, and other non-premiums added.

That the same type of things folks were saying 10 years ago when DirecTV started adding HD channels. Folks saying don't waste bandwidth on HD, only a couple people have it and it's a waste of bandwidth. And since D12 has a lot of open space still it's not like additional HD channels aren't being added because of bandwidth shortages.

But I do agree, D12 had a lot of high hopes for a bunch of new HD channels and instead it's leaving a bunch of folks unhappy with what's been added so far.

It does seem a tad anti-climatic following all the "is it drifting"/"The Sky is Falling" posts but then that was largely on our part, DTV hardly said a word about the satellite and we largely failed to manage our own expectations :(

As for "leaving lots of folks unhappy" I guess we should remember that by far the large majority of DTV's subscriber base probably aren't even aware there's a D12 satellite and most of them don't care as long as the 5 or so national broadcasters are available in HD

Yeah, all you guys are right. I was following the D12 saga since going from onground spare to Live. I agree that HD did have skeptics but HD was part of the digital transition 3D is not. I just think 3D is best suited for the theater and not home viewing.

But as I have been since 1997, Ill be patient and wait. Hopefully D* will not dissappoint any further.

HD was not part of the Digital Transition. It just happened to occur concurrently...

    In HD?

They keep their shoes on? I suppose someone with a foot fetish might be looking at their feet. :D

BTW: Nudists (or naturalists - the people who like to be nude as much as practical) generally wear shoes and carry a towel for sitting on. Shoes are needed to protect the feet and the towel helps prevent sticking to what one is sitting on or sitting in someone else's sweat. (Either that or they are also Douglas Adams fans and always carry a towel.)

I've driven through campus on game day - and watched the blimp flying around town. A lot of people make the effort to come to Notre Dame ... especially when big schools like USC are in town. The South Shore runs special trains from Chicago for the bigger games.
