Please use this thread to discuss your feelings about upcoming national HD channels.
This thread will not be as tightly moderated as the rest of the site, but here's the tradeoff... in exchange for your being able to rant a bit more, you can be assured that absolutely no one at DIRECTV will be using this thread for reference.
You can ask for new HD all you want, but DIRECTV's marketing department knows that the 100-150 contributors to this thread are only a small part of the 18,000,000 total subscribers.
Please remember that all forum rules are still in effect, and please do not "bump" this thread. Other threads that do nothing but anticipate HD channels for which there is no information will be closed.
still hoping for FSC and FSP HD...especially after watching all the world cup matches in HD this summer. Directv really needs these channels by Aug 8, or the 14th at the latest!!! Having them in HD would really take the sting out of the $14.99/mo for FSP.
anyone have inside info on these? yes they are coming, no they are not? are they negotiating or is directv simply not interested?
I'm hoping as well! Does anyone carry FSP in HD yet or would D be the first? It would be great as all ELP games are to be broadcast in HD and some even in 3D this season!
The little box in the margin on page 29 says AMC is available in HD, but they've done that before with other channels that didn't show up right away. I don't think there's good communication between the Access people and the programming people.
With the latest burst of new HD movie channels....the next crop may contain more national HD channels. It's all about the costs and contract agreements.
It's been 18 months of "coming soon." I really like Directv and have been with them for more than 10 years, but would very much like to see a few more channels in HD. Uverse is in this area, but hasn't made it to my neighborhood, but if they knock on my door one day I would be tempted to jump.
I'll wait Directv out for a few more months but will likely have a difficult decision to make this fall.

Maybe I missed something here, or maybe as Directv doesn't carry the EPIX Channels I just skimmed over it, but what does Epix do to their movies that we would label them "cut"? Edit for content or reformat all to 16:9 format?

If one or two specific channels float your boat..go to their website, see who broadcasts them...go for that provider.
If you're waiting for Uverse...brace yourself...they are uninstalling here almost as fast as installing. Between the much lower HD channel count, low-storage HD DVRs, and other issues...they aren't holding theie own in our area anyway...

Agree. I have U-Verse for the DSL only . I had a demo at the U-Verse store and found the HD picture very bad, lots of motion artifacts that suggests a very high compression rate to accomodate the limited bandwidth. The SD picture is the only thing better than Directv (I can't see how it could be worse) but I no longer watch SD. The U-Verse DVR is probably the worst and I love my HR22 and the way DVR was implemented.
I honest can't see any real reason why one should leave Directv now. I'm confident we will see new HD channels "soon" , picture quality is very good in HD, DVR is good and getting even better, price is competitive (much cheapper than my cable) and a great forum at Dbstalk.
