Which is why the list is flawed in mine & tony's opinion.
Yet you both would have no issue with RSNs being included and DirecTV being given an unfair advantage?!
There is no unfair advantage.
Folks, this is not a free-for-all. Please do not be rude to each other.
No, because other providers can choose to carry them. Uverse & Fios carry out-of-market RSNs, they count, & it's other companies choosing not to.
Right... because RSNs and broadcast networks are omitted...
Thanks for the backup, Hoosier205!
Alan...nice try. Make a list of your own or continue to use the incorrect and flawed list provided by AVS.
Wow, I can't believe how concerned everyone is with how they count HD channels, who has the most HD channels and where the providers rank. All that matters to me is who has the most HD channels I watch. And my current provider, DIRECTV, wins that battle.
I thought you might like that!
I have no interest in making my own list. It simply doesn't matter to me. I use the above list to see what channels are available for DirecTV to carry. That's all I'm interested in it for...
I simply see no reason why a list that doesn't include RSNs... and states it doesn't, is considered to be FLAWED simply because it omits RSNs. If the statement that it didn't include RSNs wasn't there, and only listed RSNs not available to DirecTV, I'd understand.
Agreed! Right now Dish Network has the most HD channels I'm interested in, but I'm hoping that the upcoming Festivus will dwindle that somewhat...
When the list is titled, "Official AVS National HD Channel Lineups - Cable/DBS/Fiber/IPTV" and omits a large quantity of national HD channels...it is flawed. The total channel counts are listed at the top of the chart. No mention of RSN's not being included is made until you scroll down to the third paragraph below the chart. That list is flawed and a bit deceptive.
I give up... Everybody is out to get DirecTV. James Long probably put them up to it...
I'm looking forward to the upcoming Festivus. I know me and sigma1914 are hoping for AMC and BBC America!
 Nooooooooo.
When is the next Festivus
Should be "soon"!
Between 09/29 and 10/13.
Do any of the various HD channel lists actually have information on anticipated channels coming in HD? If so I could understand why there's all of the heated debate about the lists in this thread and which list is the absolute correct one. I would love to see the list that does by the way. Otherwise I must be missing something.
Well AMC have announced that "Walking Dead" will air as a 90 minute special on Oct 31st. If we can have AMCHD and BBCHD before then I'd be a happy bunny
Actually... he said that it could possibly be sooner... so earlier in September is still a possibility, though I doubt it will be near the first of the month.
Granted, I'd be a lot happier if DirecTV got the (local) problem with ABC and The CW guide data issue straightened out. I finally manage to get The CW in HD (sadly with DD2.0), and I can't record anything on it...
If DirecTV doesn't get the issue straightened out in time for the start of the Fall season on The CW two weeks from now, I'll be TICKED!!!
A few things. First, Satelliteracer did not say what channels are coming (or might be coming.) They could be channels that don't exist yet, so any criticisms about getting them sooner would be point.
Second, circumstantial evidence suggests that Rainbow Media has been a pain to deal with for non-cable providers. I can't wholeheartedly agree that not yet having AMC/IFC/Sundance/WeTV must be DirecTV's fault. Now, that both Fios and Dish have made deals, I expect DirecTV to be able to too. Originally, I said I'll give them two weeks before blaming their poor/alleged negotiation for the lack of AMC. I'll expland that to Satelliteracer's six weeks.
Third, I completely agree that circumstantial evidence suggests DirecTV's negotiations are either mismanaged or they don't take most of them seriously. And that the tango excuse is a smokescreen/ruse and the people who so willing buy into it must be suffering from some form of Stockholm Syndrome. With that said, though I think there is no reason why BBCA, TCM, and several other channels couldn't have been added with the other D12 launch titles, if we do get them in the near future I'm not going to hold a grudge and criticize D* for not providing the channels sooner. I only want to enjoy the channels
