Add E! and TruTV to that list... ;) :p

Seriously though... I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that several of the posters on this thread have requested these channels.

I personally have no issue with watching SD resolution on these channels... on the rare occasion that I'd actually be watching one of them (which in the case of QVC or HSN is never)...

I'd gladly take the CSPAN's in HD.

Absolutely agree on this set of six. That would be a maypole category festivus (especially for NASA HD).

Only when a troll pops up and needs to be reminded. Otherwise, I don't mention it. Some folks forget and need to be reminded of the facts. If you'd rather not have to read it when it comes up...ignore my posts. If folks want to drop in on this thread for the sole purpose of causing trouble, I am more than happy to oblige.

The ratings on TruTV are pretty impressive.

I don't watch it, but clearly a lot of people do --whether they admit to it or not.

There is, in fact, a lot of non-politics on the CSPANs. "Book Notes" comes to mind --in fact, I'm hoping a friend will be talking about his biography of Robert A. Heinlein on there in the not too distant future. . . .

I watch TruTV and Discovery ID, a lot. Would like to see both of them in HD.

Let us know when and if he is showed on Book Notes. Heinlein "Man Who Sold The Moon" is one of the first book I remember reading.

Regardless of my personal feelings toward TruTV, I agree. I think it has a VERY good chance of making it to DirecTV... particularly since it's going to have the NCAA games on it, and DirecTV's the sports leader. Heck, I've wondered lately if one of the reasons why DirecTV offers WSST (an Independent station in my DMA) in my locals package, and Dish Network doesn't, is partly due to WSST's carriage of Pre-Season Atlanta Falcon games.

As for the CSPAN's, not my cup of tea. That being said, they... at least the first two channels anyway, have a decent shot of making it to DirecTV since they are two of the 4 channels not yet available on DirecTV that was shown in promos earlier this year.

    More PPVHD

    National Geographic Wild HD
    DIYHD
    BBCAHD
    Cooking channel HD
    Chiller HD (when available)

    (No particular order)

Heck, I'll take any new HD channel*

    *Not in Sports Pack
    *Not in HD Extra Pack
    *Not costing $14.99 a month
    *Not PPVHD
    *Not 3D

Lately DIRECTV has been adding “backhanded HD”.

Kind of like when we were kids. Your friend only offers you a cookie after he drops it in the mud. It’s kinda like that. What I want is a cookie straight from the oven.

HUTCHINS: Good joke about the cookie.

    :D

In regards to Cooking Channel, which I know I've mentioned that I wouldn't mind having, I can't think of more than one show I would probably even watch. Maybe I can enjoy :p "Luke's Vietnam" if it were in HD.

I would rather have Style HD, for shows like Guiliana & Bill (HD) (which got renewed for a 3rd season), than the Cooking Channel first; or DIY HD. Anyways just rambling.

tyrok3k: thanks! for the heads-up about the Military Channel HD programming on the 101 Network. I'm going to start its own thread so I don't muddy up this one. Thanks again.

Though there are others that I'd LIKE... if LMN and the two new Sony channels were added to that list, I'd be pretty content.

Alan, if you had to give up Lifetime HD, OR LifetimeMOVIE HD, which one would you give up? Just wondering.

I know I'm going to take a lot flack for saying this, but have a series recording for Wife Swap on Lifetime HD.

You should've followed the post chain backwards.

michaelruggeri said "It seems to me that within months, Directv will have AMC, BBC America, IFC, HLN, History International and E! in HD. Those 6 channels will make almost everyone happy. We will get some of these in the next 4-6 weeks. And there will still be plenty of slots.

"What will people be unhappy about after that?"

    ... to which I responded:

    Investigation Discovery
    Lifetime Movie Network
    NASA TV
    National Geographic Wild
    Sundance
    Turner Classic Movies

... making two sets of 6 channels that, if all were added, might quiet things down for a while. ;)
