    ...- .....
When they added TMCXHD, they didn't add it to the Ultimate package.

theres no such thing as loyalty these days.
u think directv is loyal to u?
stop paying your bill and watch what happens next, they give u the boot
theres no reason to stick with them if they don't offer what u want.:nono:

The Encore suite of channels was at one point said to be going HD this year. Obviously that hasn't happened yet... at least to our knowledge! One might be tempted to rule them out given the fact that no one knows the status of any HD simulcasts, BUT several of the premiums DirecTV started offering earlier this year were not known to be available in HD (yet) until DirecTV announced them as coming.

Regardless of my personal opinions regarding whether "fishing" is a sport or not, many people consider it to be, so DirecTV ("The Sports Leader") adding World Fishing Network would be somewhat appropriate. ;)

My personal feelings on the matter aside, TMCX was not part of the Total Choice Ultimate package, which is why TMCX-HD was not added to the TCU package. The Encore suite of channels is indeed part of the package (and why EncoreHD was added to the package).

If we get all of those, most here would still be very disappointed. None of the "hot" wanted channels are included. Sad times for HD subs.

I doubt we'll get MOST of those. My point was that THOSE are the most likely candidates given what Satelliteracer has stated...

Personally, I feel that only the following channels have a shot of being added, and I seriously DOUBT that they will ALL be added in the next month:

    1. C-SPAN3 (Three's the charm)
    2. Epix 1 (No explanation needed)
    3. Epix 2 (No explanation needed)
    4. FearNet (October 1, 2010) (Chiller is the only comparable channel for this genre, and FearNet's owned by Sony...)
    5. Indieplex (Owned by Starz)
    6. Movieplex (Owned by Starz, but given it's duplicated programming, it remains only a possibility)
    7. Retroplex (Owned by Starz)
    8. Sony Pictures Movies HD (October 1, 2010) (Unless they royally screw it up, this channel should be awesome!)
    9. World Fishing Network ("The Sports Leader")

There's about two or three of the other channels that might have a shot, but I just don't see them having as much of a chance as the channels listed above.

Why are you so excited about Sony ? Don't we already have all the same movies on channels like HBO/SHO/Starz ? As far as I know these channels also show movies produced by Sony, or don't ? Thanks.

FearNet and Sony would be far better than the last several additions. Clearly DIRECTV's focus as of late is channels that have a return on their investment. Looks like no freebees anytime soon.

Back when Dish had the VOOM channels, the only channel that interested me was MonstersHD. If uncensored, FearNet will be an awesome addition.

Regarding Sony Pictures Movies HD (horrible name, BTW!), you should picture a channel like MGM-HD or Fox Movie Channel. It's a channel that focuses SOLELY on Sony's catalog... most of which are probably more obscure titles that rarely run on the premium services (not that it would matter to me since I don't have HBO, Showtime, or Starz). Given Sony's commitment to quality on their Blu-rays, it's not unreasonable to assume that the quality might even compare to HDNet Movies.

Makes sense. I love MGMHD and HDNET Movies. I have Fearnet (streaming) on my Sony Bluray player, good if you like trash horror movies.

Yeah, my Sony Blu-ray player has it too. My hope is that once FearNet becomes a linear channel, Sony and Lionsgate may break out more of the "A" titles.

My guesses are above. And if thats the case, we only get HDEP and more premiums, I'll be very disappointed. :(

Don't get me wrong, more HD is great, but come on, give us some AMC and BBC already.

With respect to Lionsgate, dont get your hopes up that DIRECTV will buy a card for the EPIX dance.

I don't think they'll add C-SPAN3 prior to adding C-SPAN1 or C-SPAN2, so I doubt it will be among the early batch at least. Though I list C-SPAN3 in the list of HD Extra possibilties, I have to wonder if any addition of C-SPAN3 wouldn't be added to one of the base packages (ala HDNet, Discovery HD Theater, etc.).

From my understanding, DirecTV would be dealing with Sony on any possible deals for FearNet, and NOT Lionsgate, so I'm not sure EPIX (or any of the Comcast channels) would have any bearing on the negotiations.

If AMCHD and BBCHD were in the sport pack we'd have them by now. Funny, but true.

Unfortunately, DIRECTV is not interested in “free” channels. Look at their additions as of late. All additions came with a price tag (other than a select few).

Do I blame DIRECTV for keeping their eye on the money? Nope, not at all. HOWEVER, they need to be careful. Neglecting customers comes with a price tag too.

That is why I dropped Premiere after more than a decade and went with Choice Extra with Netflix. Better value, more download content and Epix content to boot!

Not at all? I do blame them for keeping their eye on the money to the exclusion of all else — and not just a little.

I'm one of those neglected customers. If I might hazard a guess, so are you. So your paragraph, the one I've just quoted, seems to be internally inconsistent.

Maybe we can ask Satellite Racer if he has ruled out BBC and AMC coming anytime soon by way of his last post.
