I've certainly given up...
That depends... how many of them are PPV, premiums, or RSNs?!
Directv is using ch 101 to broadcast a brand new season of "Damages" in 2011 and 2012. I like the idea, give me Mad Men,Breaking Bad and Rubicon on 101 (simulcast, of course).
It's interesting to watch the goal-posts being moved back again and again. Not to pick on Alan here, but not so long ago all the posts were saying "just wait until D12 launches," then it was "just wait til July" followed by "we'll see something in August."
Now several people have posted "just wait til the end of the year, we'll see lots more new HD by then." There's always an excuse...
I think the point is, we Premier subscribers are paying the same now as we were before many of the new channels were added, so the new channels did not cost us any more, watch them or not.
I for one am enjoying the increased variety of the new premiums, but I don't really care if we get any more for a while. I'd really like to see TCM and IFC in HD.
and when she didnt give it up...i dated one of her friends....!
Yes, because no matter what gets added, someone will want something else.
Yep, we all learned that a tango dance is more important than a multi-million Dollar satellite.
They can all do that but the problem is getting them into the SD subscribers hands. Replacing every active SD receiver with an HD receiver would cost quite a bundle.
No excuses, just an understanding of the reality of the situation. Some folks understand that, some folks don't.
But I bet if they gave everyone an HD DVR that they could free up tons of bandwidth through fewer ppv's and no sd equivalents, and in the end they would be able to put pretty much everything in HD without the expense of more sats.
While I have some sympathy for the situation, the reality is just as much that it wasn't a mystery to D* by more than a month or so since late last year when D12 would be available. So there is at least a little bit of justice in the observation that it would have been nice to have been further along on the carriage deals by now to fill it up.
They didn't pray to the sky god for years, and lo and behold finally one day a working D12 appeared in the sky, ready for customer use.
What are the chances of getting AMC-HD before Mad Men starts on the 25th?
Zero. No tango yet.
DirecTV added quite a few channels last month (a few the month before). I managed to get several channels in my package, and of those, some of them are channels that I watch programming on... or will watch programming on in the future.
It's true that those aren't some of the channels I want the most, and I'm disappointed by that, but I feel that over the course of the next few months, I may end up with some of those I want more.
I don't think of it as an excuse... I think of it as being practical.
I anticipate you've already won that bet.
This bet has no winner :nono2:
No, had David Ortiz been right and we had AMCHD and BBCHD, he would have won the bet and we would have those channels, seems, in my naive way that that is a winner?
You missed the point. We already know there will be no new HD channels before August, therefore who won the bet is not a winner from our point of view.
