How many American games do they show on those channels? Soccer is unpopular in the US. Americans that watch it are very few and the ones that are more interested are from Different countries.

Go to GOLTVs website www.goltv.tv and tell me what the default language the site comes up as.

How many times to you hear an American commentator on Fox soccer channel?

Football is great. Soccer is great.

Don't blame the SPORT because DIRECTV made a marketing decision to add channels that are part of a premium package versus channels that are available in the lowest base package.

I'm not sure that this comment has anything to do with DIRECTV HD programming. Let's keep this on topic.

Happy for the soccer fans. I think soccer would be a better spectator sport if they Americanized it by getting rid of the off-side rule, by far one of the worst rules in sports. Draw two lines on the field and make zones, like hockey and if the ball beats the attacker into the zone, your on sides. Not perfect but would ramp up the action and scoring a bit.

But still hoping for more of the HBO/Cinemax channels in HD.

I'm not going to put a big antenna back up to pull it OTA. I communicated with the station engineer and he indicated that they had the feed at the upload facility, but DirecTV wasn't even talking to management.

Now we have CSS going to carry a minimum of 7 games this year. I guess I should be so happy :) that I have the leader in sports NOT providing me with access to the greatest sport going, "SEC COLLEGE FOOTBALL!" :nono2:

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. It is not the most popular sport in America.

Now, everyone just get over it and move on.

What do you expect them to tweet? Hey, thanks for carrying 98% of the shows I like. The fact that a great majority of the tweets are about one channel means there are few channels missing. This is like people complaining that some of the channels missing are on the "top 25 missing channels" list. Well, of course they are.

Happy trails to anyone who leaves a provider for not providing them with access to a show whose new season will only last about four months or so. Really? You're going to jump ship over the lack of a single channel? Umm...okay. Go for it.

By the way, the teenage girls on twitter are not really the target demographic for satellite service. Keep in mind that demographics for advertising and satellite service are somewhat different.

No approval from me is required. I simply reserve the right to roll my eyes and mock how ridiculous it is. ;)

While I agree its not "the most popular sport in America" 70,728 attending an exhibition match in Houston cannot be ignored.

I've read that the original soccer was on a field at least 10 times bigger than the modern field and that there was at least 100 people on each side. Now THAT might be watchable.

If you could see the ball in that melee! :D

Big screen wide aspect HDTV will help soccer/futbol over time. And hockey too, for that matter, by making them significantly easier to follow on a TV. A 27" 4:3 is no good way to watch either of them.

Isn't it wonderful how each of us was created with our own likes and dislikes? Why do we feel a need to justify what we like?

They still hold a couple of those matches, the most famous is in a town called Ashbourne and it is held on Shrove/Fat Tuesday. Having seen it it's not particularly telly-worthy, too many people and it's just a load of people pushing against another load :D
