By the way, for those keeping score:

AMC Makes 14 channels added in HD so far in 2011:

    • 3net - Ch. 103
      -
    • HBO Signature HD - Ch. 503
    • HBO2HD West - Ch. 505
    • HBO Comedy HD - Ch. 506
    • HBO Family HD - Ch. 507
    • HBO Latino HD - Ch. 511
      -
    • MoreMax HD East - Ch. 517
    • ActionMax HD East - Ch. 519
    • 5Starmax HD East - Ch. 520
    • WMax HD East - Ch. 521
    • ThrillerMax HD East - Ch. 522
    • @Max HD East - Ch. 523
      -
    • ShortsHD - Ch. 568
      -
    • AMC HD - Ch. 254

And yes, I am counting 3D as HD, because well.... it is in HD. :D (And technically, it is "Basic" too as you do not need another subscription, just a TV that knows how to display a 3D signal).

Additionally, one SD channel was added (Universal Sports) and we saw ESPN3D change form part time to 24/7 full time.

All in all not a bad track record for ANY provider.

MM...You forgot the old rule. If it's a channel you don't watch, then it's a waste of space/bandwidth and is a horrible channel. ;)

That's rule #3, by the way. The first 2 rules are:

1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.

2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB.

And what exactly is my "prefered" channel? Do your homework sonny and you'll see I havn't bitched and moaned on this thread like others have continuously done over which channel DirecTV should add.

After three combat tours in Nam, two years patrolling the border between north and south Korea, same same with the borders between east and west Germany and a combat tour in Desert Storm it's going to take someone a lot bigger then you to ruffel my feathers. ;)

Technical question : What are the requirements to make the corresponding PPV channel (ch 1XXX) also in HD ? Is it just a matter of negociating with the station? Does it require use of satellite bandwidth ? Why isn't NATGEO PPV , ch 1276, in HD , for example ?

I think you mean the OnDemand channels... not PPV.

... and yes, I think you are correct regarding negotiations, and no, it doesn't use satellite bandwidth.

    AMC-HD - YAY!!!!

I'm very glad my suspicions were correct! I look forward to "The Walking Dead" and "Hell On Wheels" shortly! :D

While I've been quite clear about the fact that I'm extremely disappointed in DirecTV's current HD channel lineup, I've also been clear that out of the couple of dozen channels I'm disappointed about not having in HD, I'm only upset about a few, and with the addition of AMC-HD, that number will be one less.

BRING ON BBC AMERICA HD AND CW HD-DNS!!! :D

Guys, let's not attack each other's choice of channels. If you didn't get the channel you thought you'd get, better luck next time, and keep anticipating :)

Considering the amount of VOD channels we have without HD content, I might change that "soon" to "eventually"... :(

The 90s? The movie came out in theaters in October of 99...That's barely the 90s. It didn't really become popular until it's DVD release in 2000.

Back on topic...Maybe it'll be on AMC-HD.

My mistake, I thought that I linked to the 2011 poll. I agree that D* has done well against our 2010 poll results. With 7/10 delivered against the 2010 poll I guess the takeaway is to continue to anticipate new channels from the 2011 poll for another year.

As for comments that AMC would have been #1 on the 2011 poll, we'll never know as it was not included. I know the rationale (it was left off of the official D* poll).

With my DVRs I rarely see more than 1-2 secs of any commercial anyway. Now editing for content/aspect ratio/time - that bugs me far more than the (skipped) commercials.
