Yup. How unsurprising to drop in and see the same handful of people in here excited about more movie channels being added.

Those channels were announced in June of 2007, so while non-preimum channels have been added by the dozens since then, these kept getting put off. Now that they're here why shouldn't I be happy about that? :)

Just because you're not happy doesn't mean you need to put down those of us who are....I'm just sayin'

BTW, enough with the pluses please. Either discuss the topic or don't post.

OK, now that the premiums have launched. How about adding these missing HD channels:

    AMCHD
    DIYHD
    E!HD
    HLNHD
    GSNHD
    OWNHD
    BBCAHD
    TruTVHD
    G4HD
    Nat Geo Wild HD
    Cooking Channel HD
    Fox Movie Channel HD
    History International HD
    Investigation Discovery HD
    Turner Classic Movies HD

Time for DIRECTV to focus on their weakness.

I would think that it would be a smart move to put a channel like the Longhorn Network on spot beams for the area that it serves.

I agree that no one should put down anyone for either being pleased that an HD channel has been added or for wanting a particular HD channel to be added. All too often on this forum you see pejorative comments being made about peoples watching habits etc. Unnecessary on any level.
However I do see where the fact that members or wish DTV to go down a different path on their channel additions, would be frustrated since new additions decrease the remaining, already meager, slots available to add new channels in the future. I guess they see it as the proverbial window closing on their desires

    1. The spot beams would have to be multiple and would wind up being a worse use of bandwidth than CONUS.

    2. What about all the people who want it/are Texas fans outside of the area? Or the fans of the teams they play?

What? You mean that people who actually PAY for these channels should not be excited about them being added????

What about the people that PAY for their base packages? We’d like to join the new HD party too. (without having to reopen our wallets ;))

And what the heck does that have to do with people enjoying what they are getting? The post I answered was one that made it out to be bad that people are happy they are getting more for what they pay for (which, BTW, is more than what basic people pay for).

Gee, I get to be happy when premium is added, when sports are added, when basic is added. I must be a bad man.

But, why? Cause I PAY more. I SHOULD get more.

I am about to subscribe to Cinemax, thereby completing the suite of movie packages. I also enjoy the Sports Pack for college games and would be pleased if further networks were added, especially CSN Philly. However, the channels specified in Hutch’s list trump all the above, residing at the top of my interest hierarchy; I fear we will have to wait for years – if ever – to see them.

You make seem as if they’ve done nothing but add premium HD channels. IMHO, it’s quite the opposite. It’s only recently that premiums are catching up.

The base packages and have gotten dozens of national HD channels added over the last four-ish years. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more HD channels but let’s keep some perspective looking at DIRECTV'S lineup and HD additions.

We both pay for our base packages but I also pay for the premium movie channels. From where I’m sitting, it’s not only fair, it’s long overdue (almost four years overdue)...I’m just sayin’

Although, I sure would like to have DIY & BBCA in HD. :D

I expect you to be happy. I see nothing wrong with premium customers being happy.

I can understand some being resentful to the premium peeps. However, that’s not me. I’m cool with others being happy. Hell, I’d be too.

The HD ice cream truck has made several stops in the DIRECTV neighborhood. However, it’s not stopping at my house. I’m just the poor kid watching the others eat their ice cream. This post is bringing up old childhood scars.

Sigma1914 said it best, “They'll keep complaining until their favorites are added”.

Sincerely enjoy your channels. However, expect others to be less than impressed by the premium HD additions.

Recently, yes! They’ve done nothing but add premium HD channels.

Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. You have valid points. However, how about a little multitasking. Nothing wrong with adding Basics and Premium simultaneously. The fact that they’re not doing this has me a little concerned.

Well, I'd like to see AMC, BBC-A, and TCM added JUST so I could look forward to what others will wine about.

To put things in perspective, I had D* since '05 and I waited for HBO Comedy for that long even in SD.

+1......Kind of gives you the feeling no matter what DirecTV does it's never good enough for some people.
