dosen't fox only brodcast in 720p? so tbs that brodcasts in 1080i resolution should have a better picture than fox

The merits of each can be debated forever—and will be.

However, I'm comparing 720p vs. 720p, daylight broadcasts. Fox Sports is seriously soft, over or under saturated, and in short, a really poor HD signal.

There may be exceptions. Please post time, channel so the rest of us can watch or record in a timely manner.

It doesn't matter whether the broadcasts are in daylight or night, because all of FOX's MLB broadcasts, which have been in both daytime and nighttime, as well as their football broadcasts and even their FOX NFL Sunday show, are nowhere near as sharp as TBS's MLB showings, CBS football showings, or NBC's and ESPN's night football showings.

People can tout 720p all they want, but the proof is there--1080i blows away 720p as far as FOX is concerned.

That's what my eyes have seen for years as well. Is it the contention that, since 720p is progressively scanned, that it should look better to the eyes vs 1080i?

The thought is that for sports a progressively scanned source provides a better picture...in theory.

    It's a Fox issue, not a 720p issue.

But back on topic: I am hoping for at least one more decent HD addition this quarter.

That is the truth; all other things being equal (and they rarely are) it is virtually impossible for the naked eye to discern a real difference between 720p and 1080i. This battle was settled long ago.

Now 1080p is another question altogether....

Can we take the 720p vs 1080i debate to AVS forums?

    When's Festivus?
