7 sacks on a running QB who can't throw isn't impressive.
Let's not start the trash talking here. Maybe someone would like to start a thread in the Sports section on the NFL, that would be better.
This thread went off topic again? I'm shocked! :eek2:
Festivus, for 2011, was the redundant HDs for multiscreens HBO and Cinemax…and the ridiculously overdue AMC HD.
Unless we're in for something more meaningful within the next seven to eight weeks, 2011 is just pretty much done.
In my opinion, AMC HD is a waste of bandwidth. At least HBO and Max's movies are uncut without commercials or gigantic ads for other shows on the screen, like the creators intended.
Plus TruTV HD is coming, Sports Business Journal said so.
At the risk of being banned, there have been several of us who have asked for exactly this.
Threads to allow members to talk about sports AND RESULTS, so the rest of us can talk about DBS stuff. Imagine that!
And guess who has the power to do this ! ! ! ! ! 1
Um, you do. Or anyone else for that matter.
But don't worry, I took care of it. http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2891797&posted=1#post2891797
That's absolutely correct... for those who don't watch AMC. For those who watch it (whether for the re-formatted, edited, commericially interrupted movies or for the original programming), it's absolutely worth it. Let's face it, for every HD channel any provider pushes out, there will be folks who are thrilled to have it and those for who it is a waste of bandwidth. With very few execptions, I don't watch sports, I don't shop at home shopping channels and I don't do pay-per-view events. As far as I'm concerned, all those channels are "a waste of bandwidth". If they went away, however, the overall popularity of DirecTV would plummet like a stone and I would likely end up not gaining channels I would like (BBC America, for example) but instead losing channels or perhaps the entire service. So I'm glad every time DirecTV adds an HD channel, even if it's one I don't happen to watch. Hey, when the water rises, all the boats go up.
Too bad the boat carrying TCM and BBC America has a hole in it!
Yes, give us an HD news channel with no news about celebrities' lives and fashions and twitter postings and marriages and divorces and one that focuses on world news...please!
And of course give us Turner Classic Movies HD before anything else.
I agree that it would be nice to have channels like AJE and BBC news. I know that over the past several quarterly anticipation threads I've seen a number of people voicing a desire for them. However, I'm wondering if it might be better offered as a package of channels (i.e. the International News pack) providing a greater number of international news sources to those interested.
I'd also like to see some sort of offering for international sports channels (the Sky Sports channels, the Eurosport channels, the TSN channels, etc. etc.). There are so many events which are not covered here in the US or are better covered by some of the sports channels in other parts of the world (i.e. the olympics) to which I'd love to have access.
I know none of these are likely in the near term as D* has limited available bandwidth until the next bird goes up, but one can dream :icon_da:
I have to conclude that DirecTV doesn't want to be involved with carrying BBC World News and a full time Al Jazeera. Not unlike, in the category of premium movies with Epix, the programmers apparently figure subscribers have no interest. Or, more pointedly, DirecTV doesn't want to take on the cost regardless of whether there is subscriber interest.
Given Comcast’s recent augmentation of HD offerings in the Monterey DMA, my DirecTV wish list – beyond CSN Philly and Fox Movie Channel – increasingly is “niche-centric,” instanced by the Cooking Channel and Ovation. Nevertheless, for everyone’s sake I hope – but certainly don’t anticipate – the most-repeated requests in this thread prove available as quickly as possible.
Bite your tongue!!
Some great original programming on AMC, not just the movies we've all seen so many times we can spout the dialogue.
Breaking Bad, Walking Dead and the upcoming (Sunday night) Hell on Wheels make AMCHD a must-have imo.
Directv is still waiting for all of you ingrates to send them a thank you note for Shorts HD.
ShortsHD? Can't say I've ever watched more than 5 minutes of if.
It should be a VOD channel only. Then at least you would know what you were watching.
+1, either that or fix the guide data. Yeah yeah I know it's Tribune fault not D*'s but still...
I heard Directv has got a few new channels coming in two weeks.
Sweet potatoes HD
and Pie HD
