i watch bbc america, diy and e!
D* did a very good job of adding new HD channels that the collective 'we' watch this year. Hard to really complain about that part of D*'s service offerings even if they didn't add every channel you as an individual would watch.
I watch TCM-HD (added on July 19, 2012), BBCA-HD (added on August 15, 2012), ION-HD (added on September 19, 2012), and though I'm not really watching it at the moment, DIY-HD (added on September 19, 2012).
I'm sure there are a lot of Lakers' fans who are enjoying last month's additions.
There are very few of them left that D* doesn't already have. D* added TruTV HD in 2012, and that's a Top 20 cable channel in "the demo" (18-49).
Instead of saying it that way why don't you tell us what channels you want Directv to add?
I love TCM HD and BBCA HD...love, love, love them in HD.
Ditto. And my wife loves having DIY in HD (tho I watch it more often now too). She also watches/records much more TCM now that it is in (widescreen, not vastly overcompressed, upscaled, quasi-) HD.
Is there a complete list of the new HD channels from this quarter?
The only one of the 2012 additions I watch regularly is DIY HD; however, that is because all but two of the channels that anyone in my house watches regularly were already in HD. There are no channels left to add that will have the impact of channels like ESPN, USA, TNT, TBS, TLC, Discovery, etc that were in HD prior to the start of 2012. The only channels left to add that I will ever watch are:
If they come in 2012 or 2013, that is great. If they do not, I still do not have anything to complain about. More than 98% of what I watch is already in HD.
Well after seeing Starz lose Disney today and Sony recently, I'm curious what new movies they will carry?
We already don't get
Lionsgate, MGM, & Paramount - Epix
Disney, Marvel, Pixar, & Dreamworks Animation - Netflix
As far as I know Showtime only has Touchstone and HBO has Warner, Fox, Universal, and Summit.
I really stinks that Half the major studio releases won't be available on Directv
Yes, I noticed that as well.
I was just going to say the same thing about DIY. I used to watch it a lot but stopped a few years ago and now that it's in HD I'm watching a lot more now. That along with TCM (my favorite channel by far) and BBCA has made the last few HD converts really great from my prospective. We are getting down to the last few but I'd still like HLN, Cooking and H2.
Fox Sports New Orleans
and it is a crappy HD, just like IFC's stretch o vision on TWC NYC ..sometimes...but its weak HD
Sundance Channel also carries HD VOD on some providers but not the actual linear HD channel.
My vote is for any channel that doesn't show "Reality" programming.
It's a very short list.
Have they put reality programs on H2? I'm not talking actual reality historical programming
I'll take TV Land, H2, and FMC myself. The first two are already on VoD, so I'm feeling good about them.
I'd like an option for Epix, as they've got high-end exclusive content, but I'm not holding my breath. And when I'd say "I'd like", I'm a Premier subscriber + two sports subs, so it's not like I'm not willing to pay to get what I want. . .
I'd like Epix too and am also a Premier subscriber.
Add in Reelz for some of their original programming to round things off.
FMC HD, H2 HD, HLN HD. I too would also like to see Epix added. Would be nice if Cinemoi and the Military Channel were broadcasting in HD.
