Fusion is the joint venture between ABC (or is it ABC News?) and Univision.
Sorry I haven't been following more closely...D14 is going where? 99 / 101 / 103? ...and is expected to be live by_____? Will it necessitate a new dish?
99°, mid-year, mostly no (for regular linear HD).
It's a new English-language news/entertainment channel targeted at young Hispanics, a joint venture between ABC News and Univision. It replaced ABC News Now.
Charter and Cablevision have the channel in HD, so it could be a new possibility, and it's a channel I'd like to see added. I think 349 would be the best location for it.
Well now I hear its not fusion it's el rey network in widescreen sd channel 341.
Never heard of it. http://www.elreynetwork.com
Its movies but in SD.
No more standard definición please,we want HD only.
It's a new network from Univision and film director Robert Rodriguez that launched on December 15th.
I'm surprised it took them this long to notice as it's been in test since mid-December according to the transponder maps and was clearly identified as El Rey, it just wasn't pointed out since Sixto focuses on the HD changes while Doctor J mainly focuses on changes in locals. Bandwidth wise it came from the removal of the second interactive advertising channel that was on channel 112 (we also got 2 SD Cinema channels from that removal too). It will be interesting to see what they do with SoapNet's slot in the next few weeks along with the bandwidth they got back from shutting down the MPG guide system. Maybe we could finally see some new SD only channels like Showtime Family Zone, CNN International, Military History, Lifetime Real Women, BET Gospel, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, mtvU, VH1 Soul, CMT Pure Country, etc.
Do we have to go through this EVERY TIME an SD channel is added? DirecTV has a LOT of SD only subscribers and even their HD subscribers still have SD only TVs, not to mention not everyone refuses to watch something simply because it's not in HD. Would you rather they add every new channel in HD now no matter how new or small they are (i.e. MavTV and now El Rey), or hold back until D14 launches and save the remaining bandwidth for potential pending deals and/or new channels coming down the road that will launch before D14 goes live. (i.e. TWC Dodgers, Esquire HD in time for the end of the EPL season, the rare chance they come to a deal with Pac 12, CSN Houston and Northwest, SEC Network if it isn't ready by August, etc)
How much bandwidth did shutting down MPG guide save us? I do hope that more stuff gets added for everyone (SD but also their HD counterparts if available).
Totally Agree, I would like to see the people at DirecTV who are in charge of adding channels start to listen to their customer requests, and then actually start making some deals. This ongoing verbal battle between the "HD only" people and the "we want this channel in any format" people is really ridiculous. My first choice of channels to add would be and always has been is HRTV. In addition to the channels already mentioned, I would add Movies!, Ion Life, Bounce TV, TuffTV, Cozi TV, Punch TV, Fusion, Untamed Sports, BBC World, PBS World, Veria, and others.
That will have zero impact on channels we get... It might have other impacts,. but it isnt going to clear space for new channels at all.
They do, and they have, and I bet there'll be more.
I can't speak for anyone else but I prefer HD adds to SD simply because the SD channels look so bad. I ran an SD TV for many years and had an HD box hooked up because even downconverted, the HD channels just looked so much better. Being a premium provider means adding great looking, desirable content. I only want more SD if it's because there is no HD channel for that network, or it's a stopgap measure until more HD bandwidth is available.
Now that both my TVs are HD units, I pretty much gave up on SD channels. That's a shame, as I enjoy Military, Al Jazeera America and Pivot. They just look terrible.

EL REY NETWORK IS NOW ON CHANNEL 341
Happy New Year......By the way Sixto, any update as to what the 10 912x test channels could be??
ELREY a cheap channel, put channels that don't have and that are good.
Nope, but again, not expecting that it's related to linear HD, but you never know.
What's CMT Pure Country?
Where's the Q1-14 thread?
