That's weird, since EPIX is a packaged premium or at the very least requires a significantly high tier on Dish or my local cable company.

Yeah. Even so if thy are on a slightly higher tier that means more per sub at a minimum for a package dtv has now. Increase costs and have to raise the price of a high package also? Why? It's insane.

If they where ok being a premium channel like hbo etc then fine I think DIRECTV would go or that. But evidently that's not what they want. They want bigger distribution. What thy seem to be missing is they have no distribution right now with DIRECTV. I guess they dot new it that bad and DIRECTV sure doesn't.

When you get Epix from your TV provider, you also get access to their online Netflix-style service. I wonder if that factors into DirecTV's decision (whether it be on price or principle)

Yes, that is what I was talking about. Epix is a premium/semi-premium cable channel with an online streaming component.

That's surprising since FOX has universally adopted 720p throughout all their networks.

Yeah, not much to talk about, but candidly every channel that I personally watch is already in HD. (But certainly I do understand that we have a diverse user base here with many tastes and perspectives.)
