Didn't Comcast once say they'd let them ( at a fair rate) carry it if D gave up their exclusive rights to the NFLST ?

I don't know about that, but Directv doesn't have the option of giving up their exclusive rights and letting Comcast carry NFLST. That's up to the NFL whether they want to offer it as an exclusive or allow anyone who wants to to carry it.

From what was discussed here and over on the other site a few years back, supposedly that was the price of NBCSN P being on D. (getting a fair carriage price)

The then-CSN Philly used to use that BS "give us Sunday Ticket" excuse as their boiler plate response during the landlocked loophole era where they didn't even have to negotiate with satellite providers. But if that was the only reason, what was their excuse for refusing to negotiate with Dish at the same time?...none. That landlock loophole has since been closed, and after that NBCU started uplinking the channel to C-Band instead of using the old PRISM microwave network.

The thing is it's been 20+ years since DirecTV and Dish last had local Philly sports with the defunct SportsChannel Philadelphia (which was all set to become FSN Philly, until Comcast swooped in and acquired the remaining sports rights and used the old PRISM microwave network to launch CSN Philly) The damage has been done, any remaining NBCS Philly territory satellite subscriber either doesn't see the lack of local sports as a deal breaker, has enough money to be a dual cable/sat subscriber, or didn't have a choice in the matter since cable isn't an option in portions of their territory. So the real issue now is if their asking price is worth it to pass along to those existing Philly area subscribers for what potential subscriber gains they'll get in Philly.

And before anyone brings up FiOS, and OTT providers like PS Vue and FuboTV, that's comparing apples to oranges. They didn't come around until late in the game post-loophole being closed, so FiOS didn't have an existing 10+ year subscriber base that didn't mind the lack of local RSNs in the Philly area to risk alienating.

Don't Comcast have 2 more channel to launch next year as part of their agreement to launch 10 minority owned channels like Aspire, El Rey, Revolt etc. No announcements on them yet? I read an official Comcast document from January of this year and it says they will launch by January of next year.

Comcast is probably aware that these types of restrictions are rarely enforced, and that certainly in the current regulatory climate, they're not going to do anything to Comcast if they're found to not be in compliance with the NBCU acquisition ruling.

BabyFirst was included in that one as well.

Re: NBC Sports Philadelphia, there is a vehicle by which expat Philadelphians or other interested persons can watch much of its programming with the key exception of live games. The NBC Sports Gold/Philly Pass, only available to out-of-area customers (as I understand it), costs around $3 a month and affords access to such daily offerings as "Philly Sports Talk" and "Quick Slants."

Of course, since all four professional teams are performing miserably (reverting to the long-term historical norm, unfortunately) perhaps this option is less appealing now than would have been the case last year.

There are way too many networks out there already that nobody watches.. we don't need anymore of them. They could probably turn off 20% of the lower-rated networks and nobody would even notice.

If your definition of "nobody watches" includes channels that are mandatory to carry (P/I and independent locals that declared must carry status) or are paying to be carried (shopping and pay to play channels like RT and Scientology), those won't go away. Then you got channels that are carried because of lawsuit settlements like Reelz/Ovation, AWE/OAN, Comedy.TV/Justice Central, etc.

Others have carriage deals tied to their more popular sister stations, meaning they can't drop them without being in breach of contract and losing some of the highest rated channels on cable.

And considering what you have/had on your anticipation lists for the past few years in these threads, you would be in for a huge disappointment if they decided to drop channels based on ratings alone. (i.e. In past threads you asked for channels like NASA, FXM and AHC, channels that are not exactly at the top of the ratings charts, so the latter two probably wouldn't be carried if it wasn't for their more popular sister stations, while NASA probably wouldn't be carried at all if it didn't qualify as P/I, even its cable carriage is very limited)

Likely nothing, since Uverse and Directv have separate lineups and expiration of carriage deals occur at different times. They only way it matters for Directv is if when they renew with Uverse TV they also renew with Directv, but I imagine it is usually the other way around (i.e. when they renew for Directv they cover Uverse TV) due to Directv having so many more subscribers and thus having a better negotiating position when renewing for it.

Does Directv still run its full time 4K channel as a 24/7 channel? If so what does it show now? Is it the same as when it started?
