Thanks for the update. I suspect you must in part be "the guy in the barrel" because you have a thick skin anyway, but hopefully you also recognize 99% of the kvetching here isn't aimed at you.

Tho now I will at least admit that Alan's hopes for something more than SMC on the next Festivus suddenly look a little more realistic. . . an extra week means an extra week to get more in TEST for the following week.

What's so hard to comprehend? "Not next week" & "More than likely the week after next" is pretty cut & dry.

    True!

Yep! I'd love it if it were BBC America and AMC, but my money is on Indieplex and Retroplex...

I think your prediction will be correct. AMC would be a nice surprise!

Pretty cut and dry for what? What will "probably" come after next week? And quite frankly, I am very tired of "probablys and Up Toos". This whole thing is becoming a hilarious joke.

Directv should just come out and state their friggen intentions. At this point, I think AMC, BBC, ETC., are just pipe dreams. More likely to get the butt wiping channel than anything worth watching for some time to come. My guess, the D38 anticipation thread would be more likely to bring D* up to parity with Dish. I AM SICK AND TIRED OF ALL THE B.S. They string us along in an attempt to keep subscribers while they continue to add PPV, Sports Channels, and grass growing HD channels, while flirting with the idea of $30/movie ppv channels. I would be laughing my arse off if I was Dish.

And before you ask, yes, I have just about had enough, and am seriously considering a switch. And yes, I have seen Dish's "HD Light", and guess what, it is just as good if not better than D*

Btw, Retroplex is showing "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother" these days. . . Gene Wilder and the late-great Marty Feldman (also Madeline Kahn and Dom DeLuise). It's one of the great underrated comedy movies of all time. I'd LOVE to have a revisit in HD on that.

When SatRacer said that Directv would be doing lots of interesting things coming up, do you think he may have been alluding to incorporation of Google tv into the Directv DVR a la Dish?

Directv and Google are in partnership already in advertising.

In all likelihood, it's probably the expansion of "DirecTV Cinema" to include movies still in theaters and/or the "TV Everywhere" concept, which seems like what has already existed on sites like Hulu for the past few years but now it will be under the banner of your cable or satellite company. As a whole, this seems where the entire industry is heading, or hopes to head in the case of $30 movie PPVs.
