Sorry guys DirecTV called me a few month back and asked if I wanted AMC and BBC in HD and I said no. I was in the middle of sending my son way to college and did not have time to really think about it so no just blurted out of my mouth. I'll give D* a call sometime this week and straighten it out so they can go ahead and add them. Again I'm sorry ;)

    UVerse Customers about to lose a lot of channels;

U-verse preps customers for carriage disputes and missing channels
By Richard Lawler posted Oct 12th 2010 at 3:37PM

Already involved in a carriage dispute with Hallmark Channel, AT&T's gotten out in front of a possible new carriage dispute with Scripps Networks Interactive by notifying customers what channels they could lose at month's end. Others are also on the block unless a new deal is worked out, including FamilyNet, EWTN and Bloomberg, but Scripps' DIY Network, Food Network, HGTV and others are the most notable. Our friends at ZatzNotFunny recently linked up a Bloomberg article detailing the rising number of retrans fee disputes and discussing the reasons behind them, as content providers and operators continue to try to squeeze profits out of their existing business model while still expanding into new ones, all without raising rates so rapidly customers complain.

I thought that's about where I was. I don't remember any rage or ranting that I did. Now that I know that none of the channels I want will be coming this year there isn't much point in complaining, but that doesn't mean I have to like it or leave. I will stay and dislike it. I will keep the provider that has Sunday Ticket no matter what.

Apparently, you ignored, didn't read, or misunderstood a lot of what I said. A person can criticize DirecTV while still believing they are their best option. It's not an all or nothing thing. Again, that some people believe not being glowingly positive about your television service means you should leave it is ludicrous.

As for my "commitment," since subscribing to DirecTV, I've replaced two additional SD sets with HD sets, which meant new equipment and new commitments. (I suppose you would think I was a "wise decision maker" if I chose to watch SD on my HD television, so I wouldn't be under contract.)

Every television service has problems and customers for whatever service best serves their needs should complain about those problems in the hope that it makes a difference. Burying your head in sand, taking a "love it or leave"/"you're either with us or against us" approach, or becoming a "true believer" that your television provider must always being doing the best for you is no way for an intelligent person to act.

I'd appreciate it if you'd give them a call real soon. We'll all be eagerly anticipating the results of that call. :D

    Love your black-belt kitty avatar.

A few days ago I re-upped for another two years in order to get D* to give me an HR24-100 in exchange for my slow HR21. (Other than the renewed commitment, the swap didn't cost me anything. Thanks, D*.)

I'm very comfortable with recommitting because I anticipate the new DirecTiVo will be available in, like, Spring 2011.

The same 3 or 4 posters arguing about the same things over and over and over. They clutter up all of these anticipation threads to the point where they are useless as far as a source of actual HD info.

But I suspect that certain posters will argue that I am wrong.

Please enlighten me. Concede did this when? This site has been tied into directv and dish pretty much from the getgo.

Concert increased its HD not because of google searches but because they were falling behind and had to catch up on technology. When thy caught up, they added them. (They still have minimal HD in Howard County MD, a bastion of Internet users.)

seriously? What is the CE program about? What are the constant releases of software about? Bug fixes and enhancements (addressing deficiencies).

Looks like Sony Movie Channel is being added. Go to DirecTV's website. Click on What's On, then scroll down the guide until you get to channel 563. You'll see it there!

Those Comcast Twitter monkeys seems to think they own the customer service social media space. I don't see paying the guy who took over for Frank really is going to help the company. Many people just use Twitter to rant and 1,000 @replies asking for Fox Soccer Channel in HD isn't going to do much.

I also noticed, right before I left for work, that AMC and BBC were both lower case in my guide. Whats up with that. I was like "AMCHD", then I was like "nope".

Nice catch. It looks like we will get only SMC next week, unless some surprise start testing tomorrow.

It appears they updated the guide. Several channels are now lower case.

It's the way the channel logos are. It's not AMC, it's amc. Same with bio.
