How exactly are they leaving anyone out in the cold? 94 standard and basic HD channels, 3 3D HD channels, 59 HD RSN's, and 41 Cinema HD. With more coming. I understand wanting a few of the lingering HD channels that are out there, but they aren't exactly leaving us out in the cold.

I do not know about the other shows, but since June 21 "Morning Express with Robin Meade" is broadcast in HD.

I haven't seen any of the short films listed so I'm not yet in a position to pass judgment.

I'm wondering, what good short films would you recommend?

It has been converted for a while now. Everything on HLN is in HD. Robin and Christi look great, Nancy not so much :)

But, you seem to be a sports fan and what you are citing are sports and PPV. It still leaves the non sport, PPV fan with basically what we had at the beginnng of 2010.

Non-sports and PPV viewers received new channels this year as well.

Sports is the only reason I still have Directv...glad im not in the bracket that has DTV for PPV's and national HD's..
    1. the Sports PPV packages are the richest...truly touting every game in HD..and my mom with time warner only has 2 games of the MLB package in HD. And NFL Sunday Ticket nuff said..Yes NHL package has their quirks on what is and isnt in HD...dont know about NBA league Pass...and to my knowledge the ESPN college football & basketball PPV packages aint in HD anywhere**insert correction if im wrong..Is the March Madness package in HD??

2.ESPNU/*WGN/Fox soccer channel chain/ The RSN's/ MLBN / NFLN/ NBA/ TNT..Versus & NHL Network..lets not leave out the MAIN ESPN CHANNELS and your local CBS/NBC/ABC/FOX when they have sports..

They have me hook line & sinker...> Thanks DTV for fullfilling one thing while totally ignoring the other...SHORTS HD ??? ha

*WGN bears no significance in sports until baseball season with the White Sox & Cubs...even though they televise Chicago Bulls games...it isnt a plentiful schedule..

I can think of two: "The Red Baloon". French release 1956, USA 1957. Seen it in school and on TV through the years. A very amusing film. The second is "An Occurrrence at Owl Creek Bridge". French release 1962, released in the USA in 1964 as a "Twilight Zone" episode. Has one hell of a twist ending!

I've always enjoyed short films and am really looking forward to Shorts-HD! PBS, AMC, TCM, and some of the premium movie channels used to show quite a bit of short films as time fillers, but not so much anymore.

When most mainstream channels all seem so indistinguishable, these niche channels is what makes having so many channels worth the while for me.

I also just noticed that the website mentions advertising on the channel, which is a big negative.

Hopefully the shorts are not interrupted by commercials.

Usually come Oscar season the cinemas in Chicago that show more art-house fare will put together all the shorts (there are usually live and animated) and put them onto one of the theaters

When I was a boy and movie going was a pleasure a short subject was part of the viewing package. As well as cartoons, newsreel, coming attractions and a co-feature!

Some of us never cared about Travel Channel HD...

I actually wanted WGN America HD due to them showing "Legend Of The Seeker," but by the time DirecTV added them, LotS was cancelled. :(
