Ya know, the office of the president can make changes happen cause they've updated the footnotes section on the Olympics add that MSNBC HD is not available.

Just takes an email and a screenshot.

She did note that MSNBC HD is listed to go live, but she couldn't provide a date. It just depended on the new satellite

Thanks Dcowboy. That is why I don't bet. The big game vs Canada is on MSNBC, but I will deal with that when it comes.

You think that new satellite was free? Between the satellite bus, payload, and the cost of the Proton ride to orbit, they likely spent in the neighborhood of a quarter of a billion dollars. Now realize that it's the fifth dedicated HD satellite they've launched in the last five years or so, and they have three more satellites to launch within the next five years, plus they've laid out on the front end for several million MPEG4 boxes.

If there's one thing Directv DOES know how to do, it's spend money to make money.

well, they're not going to make much money by pissing off subscribers and showing the outsiders (possible new subscribers) they are not worth switching to.

True. But if they're going to spend the money on the satellites to get the HD channel capacity, then they better also spend the money on getting the actual HD channels. Otherwise people will go elsewhere to get their HD fix.

So are you going to drop your service? How many others are going to drop their service?

I most likely would if DISH would buy my contract up. So basically D* is holding me hostage by force right now

anyhow, this whole FSC HD sharrade got me really riled up. It's pretty pathetic on D*'s part considering the following:
    1. D* is a major sponsor of most of the FSC programming (see their "Brought to you by DirecTV" add everywhere ONLY ON DISH right now :nono2:)
    2. D* claims to be the sports and HD leader and also the soccer programming leader
    3. D* has a very close relationship with FSC (see extra HD channels for Uefa Champions League)
    4. D* has the means (bandwidth) to accomodate for a new HD channel (or two - MSNBC HD) (also see extra HD channels for UEFA Champions League)

considering all that I find it appauling that they let DISH, who they hate so much, beat them to the punch and quite frankly, emberass them.
I guess the only way I see right now that D* could partly redeem themselves for all this is by offering both FSC HD and FSC+ HD as of March 1st when FSC+ is scheduled to launch.

and don't even get me started on the MSNBC HD debacle.

I wonder just how long it will take Dish to get an ad in place discussing Directv's lack of HD Olympics coverage. I'll bet there are several people here who could make a great TV spot.

Ok....so who would watch MSNBC HD after the olympics if they added it?...sounds like many said it sucked anyway. I have never looked at the channel nor will I....guess im in the minority here cause i dont see an advantage in adding it. I am sports fan and watch olympics only in passing....oh well, i know that many on here would rather D* add another HD channel over MSNBC...Where does MSNBC rank in the nielsons?...I mean, i know some of you want the channel and others just more HD, guess for me, it doesnt appeal....but i hope u get to see that one game for sure!!

No fan of the Olympics or MSNBC. If there happened to be an event I want to watch I'll catch it online off NBC's Olympic website or catch it On Demand later on.
