My RC73 Genie remote expired, ordered a new one from the website, are they definitely new, I'm hoping to avoid a used remote, thanks.

I was able to get one ordered and get a credit for the amount from a phone rep.

DTV has never sent me a used remote. I replace them once a button doesn't work right.

Thanks, that is good news, I would have ordered it from Amazon but I was able to get a Directv rep to offer a $15 credit making it free.

They are always free from DTV if you have the protection plan. Well I guess that makes it not free but it helps if you do have the protection plan.

Paying for a new remote is cheaper then the protection plan. By a LOT.

To me it is worth it for the cheaper PP. Never have to pay anything for replacement equipment, service call, or shipping. If it isn't worth it to you I'm OK with that.

The way the 24s are failing I would not cancel the PP. I did drop out of the high tier PP. Had it for two years, didn't use it much. Somebody told me a couple of years ago I'd be better off with Square Trade warranties, I think that was the better choice.

Well the Directv one appears to be used, scratches everywhere, I prefer to actually buy a new one, anyone know reliable Amazon/Ebay sellers that actually sell new ones?

Look on the right side of the page. You will see a number, that is how many items he has sold ( 14,747 ). You will also see a percentage number. That is the percentage of buyers that liked what he sold to them. His is 99.8%.

Of buyers expressing an opinion. I suggest also reading the comments left about the buyer. Sometimes you'll see negative comments in a "positive" review. (This particular seller seems to do ok. This is not an endorsement or rebuke.)

I haven’t purchased a remote in years. However. It is 7 dollars. If it is used dispute it with eBay and move on. Stressing over 7 dollars for a new remote that may be used is not good for your blood pressure

Except I never wrote anything about being stressed about it, if I can avoid having to return or junk a used remote, I would rather find the actual seller that has completely new products, no stress on my end.
