sad thing is, if I ever go back to directv, I will have to "move" and get pittsburgh or some other city because of the channels they picked for my area, espcially cleveland cw.

Anyone heard anything about if Binghamton will be getting CBS or the CW anytime soon? I am kinda upset that they had them turned on and then the next day turned off. I actually watch stuff on those channels too and they are the ones that I have the hardest time getting in on my antenna.

Just wanted to update and say that it looks like Binghamton just got both CBS and the CW (or at least I got them).

So I am pretty happy now.

Perhaps you should look at Dish. Dish has had Monterey-Salinas locals in HD for several years, and is about to take Monterey-Salinas one hundred percent HD.

On another note, KSBW has posted on its website that its contract with DirectTV is expiring on January 1, and no new agreement has been reached.

We've been waiting too long for PBS HD (and our other locals in HD) in the Boston-New Hampshire area, and are about to cancel Direct and go to local cable. It will save money, and there are many HD stations. I have no use for all those pay per view stations, and much of the other stuff of which Direct is so pround. Why not just provide a HD signal?
Is there any indication that Direct will provide PBS and other locals in the near future?

    My last post?

Yep! My local NBC affiliate now has the banner up as well...

Hopefully, this will all be straightened out in time, because with my luck, after waiting years to get local channels, I'll lose them (NBC... and soon, ABC). :(

Just got off the phone and added my Clarksburg locals for $3 and remained with my grandfathered package (Total Choice - no locals). I started out by saying I got a letter saying that I could add my locals to my current programming for $3. No problem at all, and now I have them and my DNS, too.

Thanks, runner, I am sorely tempted. And will be 100% gone if they drop the Golf Channel. I can't get any PBS-HD when it merely clouds over--station's too far away, and 49er's HD games on Fox are impossible here as well. Ridiculous. And it'd cost me $200+ to put up a good antenna to get both. Never mind lacking AMC-HD and BBCA-HD, those are HUGE.

I'm waiting until Friday Night Lights ends on 101 (a few weeks) then probably jumping ship barring some stunning reversal by these frickin clowns.

Directv has totally jumped the shark. They used to be cutting edge. Now they're cutting corners. It's getting ugly.

They just added locals for Montgomery, AL back in October 2010 and already WSFA has the same message about contracts being worked on, and the possibility of D* carriage ending Dec. 31. Yes, it is Raycom owned as well.

I find it funny how D* doesn't want to pay anymore money to tv networks, yet they raise prices every single year. (Not that I'm taking up for greedy networks.)

    Broken...
DirecTV successfully negotiates many carriage contracts each year, and I'm sure many of them have increased costs associated with them. It's just when the provider makes outrageous demands that DirecTV will balk-look at the recent negotiations for OWN.

Comcast/Kabletown is already hardballing E* over CSNCA/BA demanding that all customers in the zone be surcharged for their service whether they want it or not. Imagine what they're going to pull with D* once they own NBCU!

"Once we're Kabletown, Lemon, we can tell all our affiliates to go to hell because we make most of our money on porn!"

A quick note from Doctor J, regarding the new 1/15 TPN Map:
(copy of a post in the TPN Map thread...)

There appear to be some new short-term fill-in NYC stations....

    Looks like:
    MKT 82 Greenwood-Greenville, MS (ABC & FOX & NBC)
MKT 200 Watertown, NY ( ABC & NBC)

What a joke. I got a message on my TV that says that they couldn't renew the Fox contract for Binghamton. RIGHT before kickoff of the Eagles/Packers game. Luckily I still have my AM21 hooked up and Fox comes in pretty well, but this is getting annoying.

So WCOV (FOX channel 20) apparently has still not finished their contract for D* to broadcast them locally here in the Montgomery, AL area. Funny thing though...if i go to ESPN and click on the Eagles game, in the scoreguide, being shown right now on FOX, and click view now, it takes me to channel 20 WCOV on D*. No other way can I view this channel though. Even hitting previous channel does not take me back to it. Any idea on when they'll be up for good?

I would but Dish has no Sharks via CSNCA/CSNBA. Negotiations broke down. Also Dish has no PBS-HD, even at the local level. I find that appalling. If they fixed those 2 issues, I'd be all over em in a flash.
