directv protection plan...

    Based on my experience today the regular CSR and supervisor were worthless but the Access Card Team fixed the problem right away.

    It hasn't been mentioned because it's not a plus of the protection plan.

    Your contract will not be re-upped if you do not have the protection plan and are replacing a leased reciever either. It is not a plus.

    Well at least its not suppose to be re-upped. D* has "system issues" and often times it is incorrectly re-upped.

    If you are having issues with the ownership of your receiver with the Protection Plan, you can also speak to a CSR in the Protection Plan department. They are usually helpful and knowledgeable in this area as well. It's the first-line CSR's that you generally have to avoid for detailed info as they either don't know or haven't been trained appropriately.

    Well this is obviously news to me. Might be time to cancel the PP then...

    The PP has saved me a small fortune over the last three years. I had a crappy initial install and that triggered many service calls that I never paid for. Between January of '08 and June of '08, my entire system was rebuilt in stages and an extra dish was installed plus two 6x16 multi-switches and numerous dish alignments. Would have cost me a fortune if I didn't have the PP. Grandma used to say, "Don't be penny wise and pound foolish." Wisdom to live by. Keep the PP, you never know. Money well spent.

    I called to technical support just last week and got a CSR who introduced herself as being a protection plan person. Maybe these days if you have the PP you are automatically routed to such a CSR?

    I have the protection plan

    the only reason I signed up for it is because my dish needs to be realligned about once a year (wind).

    I got my dvr replaced this past week and saving the shipping cost was a plus but not a reason to sign up.

    Yes, you're routed to them by the first CSR you get as soon as they see that you are a member of the PP. At least that's supposed to be the way it works. You can't even get regular tech help, they send you right to the PP techs. And some of them actually are helpful.
