Though, kind of a stange one as the DLA2 payload is identical to DLA1 and if co-located at 95W can offer no new bandwidth with the exception of it's one special purpose 8 MHz wide "TCN" xpndr that operates on the opposite polarity of DLA1.

Therefore don't see what DLA can really do with it outside of load balancing with DLA1 and/or as a redundant spare.

Intelsat 31/DLA-2 Launch: To Baikonur and Beyond!
On 28 May 2016, Intelsat will launch the Intelsat 31 (IS-31) satellite, hosting the DLA-2 payload for DIRECTV Latin America. The satellite will launch into orbit aboard an International Launch Services (ILS) Proton rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to its destination at 95° West. There, the satellite will be collocated with Intelsat 30, which hosts the DLA-1 payload and was successfully launched in 2014, providing redundancy and resiliency for services in Latin America.

DLA1 and DLA 2 use opposite polarities, and therefore do not interfere. They were designed to work in tandem.

From the Narrative filed with the application for IS-31 (DLA-2):

"Intelsat 31 will be co-located with Intelsat 30.. The beam polarization
utilized by Intelsat 31 is complementary to that which is proposed for use by Intelsat 30. When
considered in tandem, Intelsat 30 and 31 will employ full frequency reuse and are thus compliant
with the provisions of Section 25.210(f) of the Commission’s rules and policy of maximizing the
    use of transponder capacity."

Well I remember reading this Tom, and even though I didn't understand how it could be done without DLA2 operating on new frequencies. I expected to see evidence of this complimentary capabilty when I studied the Schedule S for IS31.

But the only thing I could find any different on the DLA2 payload from DLA1 was an opposite polarity for the one special TCN xpndr.

The rest of the payload looks indentical to DLA1.

    HoTat2, that's capability of the sat's equipment

how they will operate initially ?
looks like as a twin , but each one on opposite polarity

    later on ? who knows

Yeah, I noticed that... Didn't seem to affect anything apparently. Anyone know what that was?
