This is awesome news. If you remember the launch of the SECN, the opposite was true, DISH signed a year out, and DirecTV not until a few weeks before launch.

ESPN will, as it has with every channel launch since ESPN2, move games "down" to this channel to drive demand.

Thank you, for posting this, raott!

I am going to guess ACC Network will get mapped to ch. 613. (Ch. 612 was speculated as reserved for Pac–12 Network during a brief period when it looked like there was potential for a contract for carriage.)

August 22, 2019 is on a Thursday. So, it is good that it will get carried with launch.

I was going to guess 613, too, with 609 as a possible second place vote. They will probably put it on ch 309 or something (jk, sort of).

It might be a lower number 200s range...

It's a big push by ESPN, it has been part of the new negotiation process with altice and fios...

I say it will take ESPN news slot but just making a random guess I would guess they Want a lot of viewers and not get lost like FS2

Some providers (optimum ) have dropped ESPN classic when adding ACC network

Honestly I doubt that’ll happen on DirecTV. If they give the ACC a low number on DirecTV then the SEC Network will demand the same. It technically is a RSN so 99 to 1 odds it goes in the 600’s as close to the SEC Network as possible

The ACC Network will be considered an RSN & will be in the same channel range as The Big 10 & SEC Networks in the 600's.

Comcast, which has channel mapping in the 1000s—and I am speaking of a sibling who has the service—assigns sports in the 1200s and 1300s.

Here is Comcast’s channel mapping (on this topic):
    1313 Big Ten Network
    1321 SEC Network
    1329 Pac–12 Network

I would guess Comcast will map ACC Network just before or just after SEC Network.

So, I figure AT&T will handle assigning ACC Network in a similar way with DirecTV. (I know not all mentioned have yet signed to carry ACC Network at launch.)

How did any provider add a channel that will not launch until August?

Part of the new agreement with espn/Disney

And optimum already dropped ESPN classic from my understanding , fios may have dropped ESPN classic as well ...

That's what I was trying to say earlier ESPN has a big push for acc network

Disney talked about turning ESPNC into a VOD service a few years ago. I see that happening eventually.

ACCN will be in the low 600s near B10N and SECN.

ESPN used the ACC Tournament media day to officially announce the DirecTV deal, along with some programming:

    - (Previously announced) Two (of the the fifty or so) football games will be Georgia Tech @ Clemson, which is the launch major event of the network on 8-29, and Notre Dame @ Duke on 11-9.

    - Four (of the 80 or so) basketball games will be Louisville @ Miami and Georgia Tech @ NC State on 11-5 and Notre Dame @ UNC and Virginia @ Syracuse on 11-6.

    - The first two documentaries will be "The History of ACC Basketball Tournament" and "The 1982 Duke Recruiting Class".

    - The feature talk program will be "Packer And Durham" which will run weekdays 7-10 AM with a simulcast on Sirius XM radio. Hosts are Mark Packer who has done sports talk radio in Charlotte and went to Clemson, and Wes Durham was the Georgia Tech PBP man before moving to the conference tournament games. ESPN views the show as a "companion" to the Paul Feinbaum Show on SEC Network.

Interesting that the ACC would schedule league basketball games so early in the season. Dates listed are usually the opening dates of the college basketball season with league games starting mid to late December or early January.

I can't let sports continue to hold me hostage with who is going to be my provider. Not that my future carrier won't pick up the ACC Network, but I'm not going hold my breath with Comcast. Now if the ACC had hockey, I'd be stopping my work order of next week:D!

They can easily add any ESPN Classic content to ESPN Plus as long as they have streaming rights for said content.
