Hey, ... glad to see KDOC-56 possibly joining the HD locals lineup for L.A. :hurah:

Sure hope it comes to fruition as "TEST mode" is no guarantee of future carriage, and even though improving their genuine HD programming a lot of what they broadcast is still up-converted 4:3 material.

So move over KTLA, looks like your going to soon have some company there presently all alone on spotbeam tp. 21, beam A4BB at 103W. :)

The Compatibility Pack is also larger and has more security patches than Office XP.

You would probably do better to zip the xls files (not using WinZIP as Windows zip folders can't deal with the new compression scheme).

Open Office loads the files just fine.

How is the channel loading info compiled for the 111005.xls?

The last 2 times certain channels have been missing, for example conus directv domestic transponder 12 at 95 west has been missing channel 2136 since the 110914.xls

Seems like some channels are being ommited. Thought you would want to know.

True L.L., though I think in this case KDOC stands a better than even chance of actually going active. As I pointed out earlier in another thread, with satellite bandwidth being such a precious resource, I can't imagine DIRECTV continuing to allocate an entire SB transponder for only one local station here (KTLA).

If not for anything else, but for the sake of spectrum usage efficiency alone even if KDOC is not really a great add.

P.S. Well actually, for me personally anyhow ;) ,... considering that all else in HD left beyond KDOC in this market are now spanish stations KDOC is a great add comparatively speaking. ;)

I would debate as I did in other threads (Sixto's), the available and vacating bandwidth is there - four transponders are doing nothing and hot !

Thanks for the info.
I usually scan the 95 and 72.5 sats only every couple of months, not weekly since there isn't much "talk" about those changes.
I do run the data and check with prior results.
Sometimes there are "holes" in the data for no apparent reason.
Since i do not subscribe to any International programming i cannot verify any changes.
I just report what i get and let you report the errors.
I'll rescan 95 before next update, check back and see what we find.
Thanks again

More info:

I'll have to check with gct re processing as my raw data from 9/28 and 10/5 has "BAND" ch2136 present.
Did not get to published report??

Will review
Thanks again

Well, I found the problem. It is me.

After the 9/14/11 data post, we moved through a couple of new front end binary interpreter programs. They are much improved in terms of detail verbosity and accuracy too.

My responsibility in this team effort is to post-process these 9,961 records doctor j created so they are parsed, interpreted and beautified. In the case at hand, I blew it. The missing channel 2136 record led me to discover that some record formats changed after 9/14/11 and I failed to pick up on those changes. Those records fell off the wagon until RMichals came along...

The net result is that we now have 164 more CONUS records and 156 more LIL records than we showed yesterday. Many of the LIL records were OTA channels and many of the new CONUS records were Offline or Hybrid entries. But there were still many, many valid, significant records that have returned - Channel 2136 is one of them.

Note that the XLS and XLSX files in the original post now have an 'a' suffix, indicating a new post-processing run.

Much thanks to Doctor J and RMichals for keeping us honest. And hopefully, accurate too.

gct

With help from Stuart Sweet and with blessings from Chris Blount, the Excel filesize limitations have been modified to enable me to publish the Excel data in the old 'XLS' format.

No more remote sites, no more double posts of XLS and XLSX file versions.

Please note too, the Domestic data file is now a version 'B', indicating that I was caught with yet another problem in post processing that needed correction. (The folks in Houston now have their LIL channels back...)

:)

4 New HD-LIL Markets are in TEST:
1|MKT 60|NET 571|Elmira|NY
2|MKT 82|NET 593|Greenwood-Greenville|MS
3|MKT144|NET 655|Panama City|FL
4|MKT 154|NET 665|Quincy, IL|Hannibal, MO
That leaves only 4 more to complete the 2011 "Announced" markets!

DNS channels were removed from:
1|MKT 19|NET 530|Billings|MT
2|MKT 105|NET 616|Lake Charles|LA
3|MKT 200|NET 711|Watertown|NY
72.5 Alerts/Placeholders were removed from:
1|MKT 32|NET 543|Champaign|IL
2|MKT 52|NET 563|Davenport|IA
3|MKT 64|NET 575|Evansville|IN
4|MKT 190|NET 701|Tri-Cities|TN_VA
Many "ALERT" notices across several markets are now active.
I suspect these are info banners about possible channel losses on November 1, with BELO communications.

Sure do. Check it out for yourself. Go to the Original Post and open up the Excel Domestic TPN Map. One of the tabs within the Excel is named "Tutorial". That will take you through the couple of steps necessary to make you a pro using this data. Honest. You will love it.

It can vary wildly from about a week or two after the initial start of testing to actually NEVER appearing if negotiations with the station's ownership for channel carriage break down or maybe DIRECTV looses interest in adding the channel.

DIRECTV can add or remove a prospective channel for testing on their system all they wish, but cannot broadcast it openly to subscribers until a contract is in place of course.

The TPN Map data presentation has been modified just a bit. The data has not changed.

All OTA records are now broken out into their own tab
All Hybrid records are now broken out into their own tab

In the CONUS and LIL tabs, HD records are denoted with the channel Name cell shaded in blue.
