The attachments to this post cover all U.S. DIRECTV Channels and Transponders, CONUS (Continental U.S. or National beams) and LIL (Local Into Local or Spot beams). OTA (Over The Air) data is not provided in this specific data capture.

Directv-Latin America provides satellite coverage for the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America; Directv-LA data is separate and not included here.

A single Excel document provides all the CONUS and LIL data for DIRECTV Satellites at the 72.5W, 95W, 99W, 101W, 103W, 110W and 119W positions.

Three supplemental documents are also provided:

    • A Network-Market-DMA Networklist cross-reference sheet. This information is particularly useful in understanding the LIL data.

    • A Network Decoder map showing the satellites and transponders graphically as they appear on your receiver's signal strength display.

    • A Channel Distribution Chart showing the number of CONUS and LIL channels provided by each satellite.
All documents are fully unprotected so you may copy and use the data as you wish.

The D12 Transponder Map is a part of the complete TPN Map in Post #1.

But for those of you interested in D12 only, here is just the D12 CONUS Transponder Map.

    Notes:
    1. The entries in RED are phantom or shared channels. Within a given TPN, only one could be active at any one time.
    2. The entries in BLUE are part time channels. Within a given TPN, only one could be active at any one time.

    Los...
    Thanks for the work guys;

And I know its not easy what with all the shuffling around going on up there at 103 caused by D10's traffic being offloaded to D12.

Any idea what "Network ID 11" might be about? I've seen this for awhile now on previous capture releases with some spotbeam transponders on D11 and D10 being assigned a national ID number like this.

The Network Decoder map also assigns traffic for Net. 11 to Spaceway 2 instead of D11 as listed in the transponder map. Is this an error?

Lastly, there are no "Network 14" transponder assignments, but I assume it's listing is still included in the data stream?

    HoTat2,

Network 11 as shown in the Network Decoder is indeed SW2. The entries in the TPN Map for Network 11 are properly shown for D11, but the Network Number should be Network 10.

That is my error in parsing or formatting. I will post a corrected TPN Map. And thanks for pointing out this issue!

    HoTat2,
Network 14 is the SW1 satellite. Again, the Network Decoder (thank goodness) is correct.

Network 14 doesn't show in the data because SW1 is not currently providing any CONUS beams. Spot beams from any of the sats show up in the appropriate LIL Networks (that is within Network Numbers 512 to 723).

OK, thanks for the clarification gct.

But if all spotbeams are indeed within LiL Net. IDs 512-723 does this mean SW2 is providing a CONUS beam service for the Net. 11 transponder assignments then?

I thought the SWs were spotbeam only birds and had no National beam capabilities with the possible exception of the special Ka B-band potter horn assembly for back-hauling purposes.

For your sanity: I just updated my response to you (post #4) -- those Net 11 entries should have been Net 10 entries. Double-checking the Channel Count PDF, neither SW1 or SW2 are providing any CONUS beams at this time.

    Ok thanks;

And I promise I'll be out of your hair after this :)(assuming you have any ideas of course).

But what then is to be made of some of "Net. 10" assignments to D11's spotbeam transponders between 15-24 in the transponder map?

There are 16 Local channels listed in the data stream using TPN's 15 to 24 at the 99 position.
These do come out listed as NET 11 on the original data.
We are uncertain as to the distinction.

4 are NY and I believe are saving TPN by using DNS nationally and LIL to NYC.

1 is a Sacremento "TEST" channel (my58) that has been hanging around unexplained for a while. Many months ago there were a few other oddballs but have disappeared subsequently.

1 is an active channel #12 NBC and i believe this is what BAMAWEATHER posted yesterday in newshawk's Local thread in Programming as Dothan NBC maybe from Montgomery.

The other 10 (along with now 9 on NET 15 for Pocatello ID) are New LIL's . There are 5 for Joplin MO and 5 for Biloxi MS. Uncertain why these are here given LIL PID's are available to "park" till live.

All in all we can only Report what we see and speculate.
Thanks for keeping us honest but these can be reported in a number of ways.
This is how it comes out best.

Last month and for a few months there were 2 "test" channels listed as NET14.
Gone the last couple of downloads.
Again unclear as to what this means.
My feeling is that there are a distinction for "local" or maybe someday KA-High vs KA-Low.

Don't know and to the compulsive among us it's painful not to have an answer!!

OK, again many thanks for all the hard work mapping this stuff out. :)

I admit though in breaking my promise to give it a rest now I was going to ask about the strange resumption of the few HD channels in the 70s channel range.

As to whether or not these were the same old legacy MPEG-2 HD ones resuming service (though not receivable) on D5 at 110 for some reason. But I see they are no longer listed in the program guide so I guess it's irrelevant now whatever it was about .

"But I see they are no longer listed in the [MY] program guide" - perhaps other guess will take precedence ;) - someone mentioned here: it could be holding for commercial receivers. Hence your receiver doesn't listed it.

Could be, but I would have expected to see them more likely listed in the channel guide as some more of those grayed-out "Private Networks" ("PTNW") if this were the case. :)

    Psmith is correct.

The 70's have never "gone away".
I have heard that commercial accounts are still using MPEG 2
