DirecTV isn't the one selecting these games, they can only show what's provided to them by the networks. The EPL is from NBCU using 4K feeds produced by Sky Sports Ultra HD, the MLB games are from MLB Network's showcase, those NCAA games are from Fox Sports 1.

As of now ESPN isn't providing any 4K content.

If you're expecting any NFL, don't hold your breath.

I wouldn't expect NHL either. Yes, Rogers produces Hockey Night in 4K, but for various complicated reasons they can't just show that unless NBC Sports and the NHL Network agree to it for the games they carry on the NHL Network, and either produce the feed themselves like the MLB Network does, or agree to let DirecTV carry the raw Rogers feed. They would then need to make a seperate deal with the NHL to also make it available to Center Ice subscribers for the weeks that the HNIC game is only on Center Ice.

When did the DIRECTV start premiere league in 4K? Waiting for Sunday Arsenal Liverpool game. I hope next time it is updated we can see NHL games.

Thanks for the info on the games. I just checked the Boston/Cleveland game from the other day. Either my old M60-C3 got better, or they were actually using all UHD cameras for the game. Picture was pristine and what I was hoping for when I did this upgrade!

Reminds me of early 2000s transition to HD.

A handful of games were available last season in 4K. I do wish we would get more than one game a week since Sky does offer at least three games per week in 4K over in England.

FWIW It appears that FS1 will be showing a game a week in the early part of the college football season in 4k. Their selection of games is not the greatest early in the season but maybe they will get a couple of good ones later.

It appears that the basketball games are being produced by the NBA network just as baseball from the MLB network. Now, where the hell is the NHL?

Directv can't show what the NHL isn't making available. Yes, there is 4K hockey in Canada, but until the NHL makes them available here neither Directv, Dish, Layer3 or anyone else showing 4K in the US can't show it.

Well people keep complaining as if it is somehow an evil plot by Directv to prevent them from watching hockey in 4K when people in Canada can.

It was not a complaint. It was my complete wish list for 4K.

Well, money is certainly involved but if you look at the NBA and MLB those game are generally produced by their networks. The NHL Network games are just picked up from other sources so there's probably other contracts involved as far as who has what rights to televise a game.

Was hoping to catch Bucks game in 4K after taking kids trick or treating. Sadly as suggested by others, game is blacked out on 4K ch. 106. My C61K is flashing weird screens as there are some issues with the gamesearch feature. Had to go to my RSN. Oh well, they’re losing anyway, so no biggie. Watching World Series now....

Still seem to regularly be problems with these 4K broadcasts, so I guess that accounts for why there isn't an FS1UHD or whatever they'll eventually call it (I think the budget cuts / layoffs at ESPN means we probably won't see an ESPN 4K channel for a very long time)
