I might be late but programming on 104 is HDR now

I also noticed my TV showing HDR on 105 on the splash screen

Update so now all the 4k events on my DVR are showing HDR, must be a recent software update

    Dripping...
Samsung recently (like this week) started rolling out new firmware to some TV's. My KS8000's got it, level 1233, which added some HDR support.

I've always gotten the HDR feedback on most shows on Ch. 104 on my Samsung TV... Most of Ch. 104 has been in 4K-HDR.... You weren't getting HDR on 104 until now ?

If something new happened HDR-related, was it from DTV's end or was it from the TV manufacturer's end ? I'm digging around my setup to see if I see anything new....

My tv just updated the other day. I have a Samsung 4k tv as well. Now it gets the hdr from directv. The picture definatly looks better now. The 4k golf looked great today I thought.

It might be a TV update because my post #743 of the nascar race did not show HDR , I go back and watch the recording now and it does show HDR now !

All my 4k sports recordings on my DVR show HDR now !

Directv has had hdr since around Dec of 2017 I believe. Or somewhere around there. It's possible it was Dec 2016 but I'm thinking it was Dec 2017. It's been a while so I can't remember which year.

On Samsung TV's they don't make it easy to activate HDR, in fact they hide it ! Even when the DirecTV receiver's Menu Settings ("Display"---"TV Color") pass the HDR test for your TV you still may not be getting it because of an internal Samsung setting that has not been activated.

Make sure you have activated the HDMI Input for "HDMI UHD Color" that corresponds to your DTV receiver's HDMI input:

(Samsung) Settings---- General---- External Device Manager---- HDMI UHD Color----HDMI 1/2/3/4 --- Click on the small box which corresponds to the HDMI Input for your DTV receiver, should turn blue.

When I first set up my 4K system I thought I was really watching DirecTV's HDR because DTV's HDR "test" said my TV passed the HDR test... Wrong !!! The TV's feedback came back with no HDR and that's when we had to start digging deeper into the Samsung TV's settings and really activate the HDR mode hidden in the TV's settings.

And be aware that if you disconnect your DTV's HDMI cable from the TV's HDMI input this will happen: the "HDMI UHD Color" blue box, previously activated, will be erased and you will have to activate it again to get HDR again.

Wondering if other TV manufacturers (non-Samsung) make it this hard to activate HDR on their sets ?

BTW my Samsung TV is from 2018...It's not an early HDR model in case anyone was wondering.

I've had HDR on my LG since I had 4k installed a few months ago. It detects it automatically.

The only time I go into my settings is to tweak something.

For you guys that went from HR-44 with HD only to HR-54 and Genie for 4K, do you also see an improvement in the HD channels? I also recently bought a Samsung 4K TV and was wondering.

I have a HR54-200 and a C61K-700 connected to a Sony XBR-55X900F 4K Ultra HDTV. I use Native On with all resolutions selected. Picture quality is fantastic.
