Guessing it will be like the other sports, if it is MLB Network/ESPN/FOX (Or anything nationally televised) then no blackout.
If it is a out of market RSN and you don't have MLB Extra Innings then 100% blackout
If you have MLB Extra Innings then that is to be determined. Right now we are 50/50, NBA allows 4K in LP, NHL for whatever reason does not in CI.

That’s because it’s a national game on ESPN.

I'm suprized att/Warner media not doing the nba all star weekend in 4k .

Seams like a great events to showcase 4k , just like they (warner media) did March madness last year .

So many random scenarios, but the description did say for Nuggets games league pass viewers could watch the game [IMG]

Why can’t DirecTV negotiate with these owners and come up with a 4K package for pro sports similar to the SD/HD packages they already offer? Hello...more money for DirecTV and the owners and fewer pissed off subscribers like myself who are tired of these asinine blackouts....

There isn't enough stuff being offered in 4K to sell a package. Who is going to pay extra for a package of a few games a week when people are already complaining about extra fees and yearly price increases?

Besides almost everything is actually 1080p upscaled to 4K, hardly anything is produced in actual 4K (not that it makes much of a difference, but people will complain loudly about paying for a "4K package" that's 95% upscaled 1080p)

Do you think that Directv management sits around and tries to come up with ways to blackout programming? They're doing what they can as quickly as they can.

Contracts for programming can take months or even years and when you add in 4K it adds a whole new wrinkle.

I would pay, assuming the cost was reasonable. Now what constitutes “reasonable” is debatable of course...I can say that I would be far more likely to pay extra for 4K sports access than the ridiculous charges for 4K movies that DirecTV charges.

Well it sure as heck seems that way since they are now offering 4K sports programming currently that they know full well will be blacked out to 99.9% of their potential 4K viewers. Will we be seeing a new Peyton Manning commercial heralding DirecTV as the “4K Sports Blackouts” leader?

But isn't it better to offer it than not offer it? If my city had a regional sports network that offered 4k, I would be excited especially since the picture quality right now seems worse than SD at times. It's not directv's fault that it's blacked out. They dont make the blackout rules. All they can do is offer everything that's available that's 4k which they do. This Altitude 4k availability is something that just started a few months ago and as a League Pass Subscriber I do get the Nuggets games. So it's def a plus for me and for those in the Altitude area.

Actually longhorn you are correct it is better to offer it than not to at all. I’m just frustrated that I can’t enjoy my 4K set to its fullest capabilities because of these blackout rules. As a hockey fan I am particularly annoyed that the blackout rules are being applied differently for hockey as opposed to the NBA. I would sign up for the Center Ice package in a heartbeat if I could be assured that I could view the occasional out of market hockey game in 4K. As a Carolina Hurricanes fan my long term hope is that Fox Sports Carolinas will migrate to at least faux 1080p 4K eventually, although I won’t be holding my breath on that one as I recall it took them forever to even switch from SD to HD....

I get it. I'm a hockey fan, too. Well, fan doesn't even begin to describe it, and yeah, it's frustrating, but these things need to start somewhere and I for one applaud Directv / ATT for taking the first steps here.

BTW, I'm a Devil fan and one thing I will say is that MSG has one of the best HD pictures available along with great sound.

Totally agree...despite my whining about the 4K blackouts I am *very* grateful for the content that’s been offered to date. All you have to do is look at dtv’s spreadsheet to realize that DirecTV/ATT are doing far more than any other provider to push the 4K sports bandwagon.

Yeah if memory serves MSG was one of the early pioneers in the SD to HD sports transition. Fox Sports Carolinas is also quite good, especially when the broadcast originates from PNC Arena in Raleigh. BTW sorry for what my Canes did to your Devils last night, but hey you gotta do what ya gotta do in this year’s crazy Metro division playoff race!

I'm hoping that next season us hockey fans wont have to deal with the 4k blackouts. I've been going nuts waiting for the chance to see it, lol. Its gotta be a league thing, but I still say if you have a NHLCI sub, you should get it regardless. Ah well.

I do agree tho that DTV is by far the go-to for 4k sports, and do appreciate the offerings!

You would think with the new contract signed by AT&T with Altitude that the 4K games would at least be available with NHLCI.

I wonder why NHL network stopped having games in 4k hdr. It’s been over a year now. I I think it was just during the 17-18 season.
