I thought I'd start a thread on the DirecTV2PC for the HR23, if the mods need to do it instead of me that'll be fine too.

Here's the reporting format copied from the main forum.

OK... First, it looks like they disabled the ability to Print Screen while a show is playing. Once this is in production, I understand the particular need for that, HOWEVER, while in beta it can make it EXTREMELY difficult to report problems. May I PLEASE suggest that you allow the ability to print screen while this is in beta.

I will be posting this suggestion in the main thread as well since it is so important imo.

ANYWAY - I noticed that the progress bar still doesn't look good at the end of a show. This isn't unique to the HR23, but since that is where I was watching this particular show, I posted here.

My suggestion is to add more blue, so the timer doesn't overlap into the white.

Milkman, if you have VIsta you can use the "snipping tool" to do the screen captures... works perfect!

I don't use that Vista garbage, I use the XP garbage... LOL :)

Thanks anyway though... As you can see, I have a tool that did the same thing for me. :)

I am trying something 'new' today - my 3 year old is watching noggin so I have started recording the Pocono race on the 23 from ESPN (206) and I am streaming it to the laptop - not bad after I switched from using IE to Firefox :D. Audio is perfect - and only an occasional macroblock.

I am experiencing some dropped frames - but the processor is sitting around 50-79 %.

Update - I started the same thing on an HR20 - the cpu usage went up and thus far playback is nearly perfect - so that leads me to believe the DirecTV2PC app is getting more data from the HR20. I tried sending a remote log from the 23 while the stream was active, but it just sat on the progress window. So I tried stopping the stream to allow it to complete. Perhaps the logging server/service is down ?

No, I used a different application for the picture above, but just to make it easier for the less technically inclined people, I suggest D* reactivate the ability to print screen for BETA.

Using the mouse to click the time bar also causes DirecTV2PC to fail.
It will run the entire program if you do not FF or Jump time.

-Normal playback results: Fair, there was some blockyness but nowhere near as bad as previous SD channel report & the entire show was very smoky so it was hard to judge overall picture quality.
-Trickplay results: Very jumpy on all FF settings, I played the entire episode in FF1, ff2 & ff3 & it did not fail the DirecTV2PC program like the previous program report but the minisode was only 6 minutes long.

Is it just me because I'm a firefighter or is this the funniest & one of the best shows on TV?
This is one of the few shows that can get me laughing out loud so hard it brings tears!

How do you get the HR 23 to show up on the Directv2PC program? I un-installed the old version and installed the latest one and still only my HR 20-700's playlist shows up.

I'm running the latest CE on the HR 23 and it's hardwired to the network same as the HR 20. Any ideas how to get the HR 23 to show up? Thanks.

Never mind, :sure: I found out I needed to do a menu reset on the HR 23 then it showed up. :)

Hmmm, can you access pictures & Music from your computer on the HR23?
You may need to redDo the network setup or make sure the new HR23 is allowed in windows media player.
Or if your like me you need to tweak your firewall settings, again!

Thank you for the help. I found out I needed to do a menu reset on the HR 23 and then it showed up on the Directv2PC program.

-Normal playback results: Failed 2 times, got a message that said it couldn't connect to the server & to check my internet connection, I checked that I could stream music on the HR23 & tried again & it worked.
SD Video quality is still poor, very blocky & I can see vertical & horizontal lines.
I'll try a different SD channel tomorrow to see if there is any improvement.
    -Trickplay results: FF1, FF2, FF3 & FF4 very jumpy
Hitting FF4 to go to live it went 15 minutes & failed, got the server not responding message, hit resume & it started back up again.
Did FF3 for 10 minutes to get to live & it worked fine.

-Comments: Don't know why it failed to start playing 2 times, both other shows worked first time.
The only difference was this show was still recording when I started playback.
The failing on FF is strange & repeatable.

The picture quality has never been good on SD programs but FF never caused DirecTV2PC to just outright fail either!

After successfully playing several movies, DirecTV2PC would not play "Secrets of the Inquisition"
WTTW, 11-1, OTA MPEG?, recorded at 9:59PM, Sun. 8/17
Error Message: "Could not connect to server, please check connection."

    Plays on DVR, yes.
DVR recording "A Haunting" DISCHD, 12PM

I checked the connection and it was normal. I played a few minutes of another recording and it played successfully. I stopped the recording that was in progress and then tried to play "Secrets of the Inquisition" again, but had the same result.
