Eddy Hartenstein, chairman and CEO at satellite TV powerhouse DirecTV, got a Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame award Monday night at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

According to our source at the scene, the broadcasting-oriented evening recognized the "engineer" for changing the multichannel TV world.

Others that were honored in the cable/broadcasting space were Bud Paxson of Paxson Communications; Peter Barton, chief executive at Liberty Media; Carole Black, president and CEO of Lifetime Entertainment; and Robert Miron, chief executive of Advance/Newhouse Communications. Other inductees included Oprah Winfrey, Kelsey Grammer, Don Imus and Bob Schieffer.
