    Dear DISH Network® Retailer,

We have exciting news for our Spanish-language programming subscribers! On November 19, 2008, DISH Network will launch a new programming package specifically designed for customers of Mexican descent – DishMEXICO. For only $19.99 per month, DishMEXICO subscribers may enjoy more than 50 Spanish-language channels that cater to Mexican culture and interests, with a wide variety of content such as sports, news, movies, music, and children’s programming.

With the option to receive local network programming (where available) and Playboy en Español at no additional charge, DishMEXICO may be a great entry-level package for customers looking for high-quality, Spanish-language programming at an economical price. The diverse channel lineup features popular networks such as Azteca America, Galavision, TeleFormula, and Telefutura.

Based on the reseller's website, it looks like a subset of DishLATINO (similar to the "welcome" packages DISH added on the English side of their programming).

Like the "welcome" packages it seems that they don't have DishMEXICO on dishnetwork.com. :(

DISHMexico, is only a downsize of DISHLATINO, with 3 new channel, but less other channel like DISCOVERY en español.

    Rafael,

I think that some people are getting the DishMexico package confused with DBS Mexician service. DishMexico is for U.S. residents and will be offered from the current satellites (119 and 110, various transponders). All channels are MPEG2.

The DBS Mexican service will be offered (when approved) from the 77 degree satellite, mainly from Echostar 4 but possibly from Echostar 8 also. It will be available in Mexico, NOT to U.S. residents. Echostar 8 (at 77 degrees) will be used for U.S. locals (HD and SD, all in MPEG4). Echostar 8 is currently testing. There are four live transponders on that satellite but no channels are available to the public right now.

I hope that clears up the confusion.

Im so glad to see Dish investing time in this and other great things, while those poor Direct TV subs just keep getting local HD markets added weekly...

Anyone else think its weird that their press release refers to Univision and others as "Mexican" networks when they are clearly based in the U.S.? Makes it seem like they don't know anything about the channels they carry.

It's Dish Network, the folks who focus on marketing products without squandering alot of money on research or testing. Why would they need to know anything?

    Yeah I was being sarcastic.

Im trying to figure out why Direct unveils new local HD weekly but Nothing from Dish.

Look at the front page of this site....... every wednesday it seems direct gives their customers 4, 6 even more local HD markets.

Dish MAY, MAY add 4 a month.

Thats why I said 3 months to go. Then I am gone.
