OK.. i hear you.. but obviously DISH Network doesn't agree with your way of looking at it .. and acted accordingly...

and now we can sit back and see how it all will play out :)

Back in the day, when we chanted "Oakland Sucks" at a Chargers game, NBC would bleep it. Now it's the bottom line of a nationwide ad campaign. Who'da thought?

come on - as day and night - do not compare a joke and a part of an ad campaign to attract a new customer such as "my TV sucks" .. with more offensive "Oakland Sucks" - .. different as black and white ...

But of course i d expected this point of view .. from you in particular, Mikey.. Can you expect anything much different from someone who just told me yesturday:
    .. But meanwhile :D :

While I did find it funny and technically well done, content wise I agree it is trash. An advertising campaign is not the place for this and heads should roll for allowing this to be the image of Dish Network and the people employed there.

Agree 100%. I hope this campaign dies a quick death.

I am a firm believer in advertising that doesn't offend a large portion of the country. This ad doesn't pass that test. It may be time to, to borrow a phrase, "rethink tv" in my house. Off color humor has a place, but, it's place is not in a national advertising campaign.

11 Million PLUS of other DISH Network subscribers (or large number of those anyhow) and their friends (who might be potential customers also) may disagree with you Richard somewhat, expecially during some "gathering together" (such as at some sport game over at someone's place .. someone with 60 inch HD TV set say.. where the "Suck" slogans are heard all the time (while those DVR buttons are being used often.. and friends without DISH drooling over those) .. and if "Suck" is NOT heard often, they might be lacking some extra fun cuz of that :) .. or say over some Barbeque gathering.. , expecially after few beers had been put down already (in both of the "gathering together" examples) :D

There is always another point of view to every case.. one maybe more down-to-earth (to the level of an average joe out there) than another...

Trust me - DISH has marketting team! .. and they know what they are doing.. (while others might think they know jack)

Besides .. this ad campaign - will NOT last forever (as you said above yourself)

    P.S. .. hmmmmmm.. - joe, jack.. Geeze... :)

Po--leaze! Give me a break. Ask 100 people what "this service sucks" means and I gotta think a pretty small percentage will have any reference at all to oral sex. And your reference to Dubya and morality is a joke. This was the same bozo who flipped the bird while on TV in his earlier days. I'll stay away from the "morality" of the war in Iraq as that's a whole other thread!!

They are not referring to oral sex in any way! It is slang! My 8 year old says "Man, that sucks" all the time. I do not get offended because I know it is just slang. I say it all the time with no reference to Sex, straws, vacuum cleaners, mouths, or air conditioners etc. :D Lighten up! :nono2:

Agreed. I too see no reference to oral sex in the phrase "this sucks". Why is it always the 'morally superior' folks that have the dirtiest minds?

I agree lacruz! What is the world coming to? First they give women the right to vote, then they segregated the schools, oh wait, it's called progress.

Now if the Tv really sucked, as in the reference to oral sex, I think I would be in hog heaven. Especially if it did it during the Porn channels.

So according to you, anyone that watches what their vacuum does to the stuff in the carpet reminds them of getting a blowjob? What about drinking with a straw? WHat do you have to do if you want the liquid in the glass? That's right, SUCK! But wait, if I am drinking with a straw, does that mean that I am "orally gratifying" my drink? Give me a friggin' break!! No where in any of the ads is there even close to a reference of your tv giving you or anyone else oral sex. Maybe if you would watch the ad...oh wait, that's right, because the "moral majority" will just go ahead and make up your own mind for you! If you would take the time to watch, listen, view and otherwise pay any kind of attention to any of the new advertising that Dish is doing, it's is actually rather cleaver and in no way is misleading and wanting people to have nor condone you me, your animals, or anyone or anything else to have oral sex. if that is what you thought of, then maybe you need to examine your morality and where you are at. There is nothing different between these ads and the playtex cross your heart bra commercials of 15 20 years ago. Those showed women parading around in nothing but their underwear, both in daytime and primetime! Hell, I can remember when they used to "suck" on cigarettes and hawk hard liquor in commercials, live even! If the commercial had shown a girl going down on a guy and asking the question does your tv suck, then yeah, you would have a point. WATCH THE COMMERCIAL then form an opinion, instead of the other way around. You, just like the "moral right" have it backwards! But that's must my sucky opinion.

Excuse me, but we are already being bombarded with the whole oral sex thing with dish doing their "Does your tv want to give you a blowjob" or whatever people are thinking the ad says, but now you are quite clearing stating that the marketing team at dish knows how to "self gratify" themselves and I for one just don't think that is very moral or polite. I just have to say!!!!!!!!! :eek2: :nono2: :D
