I want to get a C61K from a 3rd party authorized retailer to pair with my HR54 for 4k. Is there a way to check the settings through the receiver to see if I have the correct LNB? Under System Info it says...

    Dish Type - SL3 LNB
    Switch type - SWM LNB
    RB/INTL - None selected
    SWM CH Count - 22
    Manufacturer - Pro Brand
SWM Serial No - Not sure that I should post this?
    SWM Firmware - 2.5.0.7
    SWM Library version - 2.1.0.17

At some point we all may need a RB LNB --your is NOT --but 4 K will as done from D* today will work --

If you had a RB it would show in the system info list as RB-LNB

Note: Better to have a RB when not needed --Than NOT have a RB when Needed. Get one from ebay it's a easy swap

I wouldn't rush to spend money for nothing!
Now and in foreseeable future you don't need the RB LNBF.

When it will come really usable, ATT/DTV will change the LNBF for you for free !

While you wait on the phone forever and then for a service call that will be missed over and over

How do you expect to benefit from going this route versus going through DIRECTV or AT&T?

Will going through a third party guarantee that a service call won't be required?

I noticed that one of the "authorized dealers" took out their note about the prices being lease entry costs rather than outright purchases. The seem to have forgotten their place in the food chain.

    Below apply's to the OP

I would add --Buying from a third party (like I did in 2017) from Solid signal --at the the time SS was able to activate my c61K and add 4 k Service --Since 2018 --they can NO longer do that.

You can still (buy) lease a c61K --but you then have to call ATT D* and have them activate and add the service.

SO you might be better off just Calling D* (no matter the pain) adding 4K service to your account-which will get you all the above --4K Service is "FREE" as long as you don't count the $7 a Month for the C61K + the cost of the lease.

As far as I know, You can still buy(lease) a C61k from SS... They will handle the activation

I replaced a H21 in 2019 and called SS to get a H24 and they could no longer use the directv system as they could in the past that time-- --so I called 800-531-5000 and they sent one for 19.95 and activated it.

so I could have paid $99 for the H24 and still had to call d* to deactivate the H21 & activate the H24 ---so I got away for $19.95

I wonder if they can only do ATT System activations now

SS wouldn't complete my order until I sent them my account information and said that I would have to call to activate it.

That sounds normal. I had to do that before with them

That depends on who sigma1914 was advised to call.

I'm not sure what benefit there is to SS having your account information is other than to try to ferret out those who aren't being forthcoming about their eligibility to lease a receiver.

DIRECTV may insist on a service call to activate 4K. They did for me.

This appears to have been the policy for a while now and that is why I question the virtue of acquiring leased equipment through a third party. That doesn't even contemplate anything that DIRECTV or AT&T might throw in to sweeten the deal.

If these dealers aren't telling the truth about the conditions of the "sale", they aren't able to activate the equipment they sell and they often can't (or won't) tell you whether you're getting new or refurbished, what's the point?

Got the Mini setup today and after a 30 minute call with tech, got it activated with 4k. Thankfully no truck roll.
