Does getting a C61K start new contract?

    I already have an HR54. I am out of contract and don’t want to extend. Will getting a C61K renew me for two years? I know they don’t have a card so I wasn’t sure.

    Yep, it is considered an upgrade.

    Yes any "NEW" Equipment Starts a 2 year Commit - So if you thinking of upgrading to 4K - Call and they need to install a Reverse Band LNB anyway so adding C61K will get you additional 2 years -Perhaps they add more 4K content -I know they are talking about NFL 4K Next season.

    They are asking survey questions related to NFLST in 4K, which means at most there might be a handful of NFLST games carried in 4K. It won't affect in-market games carried on CBS/Fox, or the night games on NBC and ESPN.

    So if I am able to find an “owned” C61k it will work just as any other owned receiver? I already have the reverse band Lnb.

    Will they ask for the MAC address when I call to activate 4K?

    Depends- Is your Account AT&T or Old Directv - If it has moved to AT&T good luck with that - anything someone tells you over the phone

    About your account often times has been discovered not be want it was to be.

    They will need the RID and Card number to activate and add it your account -- How they add it your account is the rub -Say one thing and do the other more often happens -Suck it up and don't worry about it -if you want it

    So what if he buys a C61k from solid signal, would that count as an upgrade, wouldn’t he just be hit with the $7 monthly charge?

    You don't buy them from Solid Signal, you lease them from DIRECTV with Solid Signal being the 3rd party retailer. So it is still an upgrade and contract extension.

    I was able to get an “owned” C61k on eBay. I activated it without renewing my contract. Trying to update software and it won’t. It has software from 2016 in it. The typical 0,2,4,6,8 isn’t working. Other than waiting for the push, any ideas? The performance seems poor and I’m betting it’s software related.

    You can’t manually upgrade the software on clients. The software will download to your genie and will install on your client automatically

    How long after installing does the software typically get updated? Any idea?

    I would say a couple of hours. If it has been that long try power cycling the client. It may pop up on reboot telling you to update

    Hmmm...it’s been over a few hours and several reboots and a forced software install on the HR54. I’ll give it a few days and hopefully it finds itself

    Every time you reboot it starts the process over.
    Give it a full 2 days to load all the stuff, graphics, etc.

    Still no update to the C61k software. It’s been running on software from 2016 since Thursday morning. Any other suggestions?

    Hold down the power and reset button for a good 30 seconds on the client You may need to do it twice. But basically within 1 min of booting up it will redownload software from the genie

    Just tried this three times with no success. So frustrated. Looks like a call to technical support might be in order.

    I would wait until tomorrow or Tuesday. Firmware doesn’t really push during the weekend so may need to wait until Monday or Tuesday to see if it gets pushed to your genie

    Firmware watcher shows 0x10D1 as the current software version. Which version do you have ?
