Does the HR34 REALLY still have the BFU Progress Bar?

Does the HR34 REALLY still have the Big Fat Ugly (BFU) progress bar? I finally pulled the trigger on upgrading my old HR20-700 to a HR34. They are coming to install it tomorrow. I had expected by now that the HR34 would have the same sleak progress bar as the rest of the HDGUI HR's but after looking thru the posts for the latest HR34 firmware update it seems to indicate that it is still using the BFU progress bar...is this really the case? If so, any word on when that will be fixed. I thought that would have been a priority fix.

It's still there, but will be gone very soon.

I'd say there were a lot of things that were more of a priority fix than the progress bar.

I really don't understand why it just wasn't part of the initial HDGUI upgrade for the HR34. By the time the HDGUI was rolled out for the HR34 it was already clear that the initial design of the progress bar for the HDGUI (the BFU progress bar) was completely unacceptable to the vast majority of users. It should have been a pretty simple replace of that module of the HDGUI code. It's not like they have to design something new....that code already exists.

It wasn't part of the initial upgrade for the HR34 because it wasn't part of the initial upgrade for the HR2X's, just like Pandora, etc. They are following the same progress and steps as they did with the HR2X's. Technically the code doesn't already exist because the HR34 is a "brand new animal" and doesn't use the same code as the HR2X's.

Probably running the exact same Linux kernel as the rest so yeah, it will be the same code at least for the GUI.

But we know the GUI code isn't the same, there are areas with differences dealing with differences in functionality.

I think the better move would have been to replace the design team that came up with this fiasco in the first place.

Their is no difference in functionality of the progress bar in the HDGUI across the various units so that specific chunk of code is the same....

Would have to agree with you on that point.

True, but I'm not sure taking pieces from one version and replacing a part of older code is necessarily the best way to do it. It's temporary anyway.
