I am thinking about installing a dish 1000.4 wa, the only problem I am running into is the power inserter. I have nowhere outside to plug this thing at all, except getting an extension and running it through the window.

How important is the power inserter for the hopper?

If it is a new dish w/lnb's the switch is built into the lnb and should have 3 outputs, so unless you are using 3 Hoppers the external switch will not be needed. If you need it, the lines from the dish could be run into the home and wire the external switch there or you can hire an electrician to have an outside outlet.

If you only have one Hopper, you would need the single node not the duo.
