Has anyone tried to use a DPP44 switch to connect both wing satellites with a Dish500? Will it work?
I've read some posts that some do have the DPP44 setup with both wings. I have all the hardware just waiting for a nice weekend after the current tv season ends to upgrade.
Well, I'll hopefully be able to answer my own question tomorrow evening if everything goes well, and it's not snowing too hard to be outside in the yard putting up my new 24" dish that should be on the doorstep when I get home.
As long as you have Dish Pro LNBFs you will not have a problem with any combination (I have tried a bunch) with the DPP44. I currently have 61.5/105/110/119/121 hooked up with a combination of DPP44+D21 switches. I have 61.5/110/119/121 on the DPP44 since my locals are on 121 and I want 61.5 for the HD. I have a dish pointed at 105 since it was to be the HD satellite, so it is ready to repoint when needed...
I once had both wings hooked up, it appeared to all work fine, except that the guide had 2 entries for the channels that appeared on both wings. I did not try it long enough to really see if the receivers flipped out, but the DPP44 works like a champ.
That's good to hear, Mike. I figured it probably wouldn't be a problem, but you never know...
Well, to close this out and answer my own question, connecting 119/110/148/61.5 to a DPP44 switch presents no problems for the switch. It does present an interesting problem with the 942 that I won't go into here because that's another story. But, I am now happily running both wings to my 921 and 942.
Would love to hear what the problems are/were
I'm going to do the same thing Mark. What is the problem you encountered?
The guide gets stuck when you try to scroll past the duplicate channels in the 9400 range due to the duplicate channel entries. You need to use the Page Up/Page Down to get past them.
I had that 3800 test receiver of mine somehow take activation of the Salt Lake and Twin Falls locals. A few of the two digit numbers are the same and they show up twice. The Twin Falls over ride the SL but it doesn't lock anything up.
Is this a bug or is it by design? I thought that I read that some recievers are 'smart' enough to not show dups.
I've been running the dpp44(148,119,110 and 61.5) since late last fall on both my 921 and 6000u (6000u only sees 61.5) , I had a few problems keeping both wings until I put in a seperator a couple of months ago... been purring like a kitten since
I think it's an oversight more than anything because 61.5 and 148 is not a standard or a supported install. It may have to become more standard now, though.
It would be for me as my wing locals are on 148 and I'd like to get the VOOM HD channels on 61.5. Hopefully I get it done this weekend using a dpp44 switch.
That's exactly why it will have to become a more standard install now.
Before not too much longer, I'm going to have to have a 5 satellite switch...129 isn't very far off.
DPP44 plus DP21 Mark.
Or talk to a certain mutual friend of ours.
Well once Dish moves the wayward locals to 110 from the wings the 61.5/148 problem will go away again. But, knowing Dish there will be some reason again in the future for it to come back.
Once I've got a dish hung & aimed, I NEVER take it down.
Me too... my BUDS are still up...
