DTV Locals/Adelphia

When DTV turns on Buffalo Locals I want to cut my cable line so that the "so called" cable technician doesn't cut any of my satellite lines.
(The cable and satellite lines are close to each other)

Will the cable company "Adelphia" be upset that I cut the line that comes into my house?

Thanks.

I think Adelphia might be a little upset if you cut their lines. Not only are you possibly endangering yourself by cutting a live wire, you could have some legal problems. That line coming from the telephone pole to your house is property of Adelphia Communications.

Besides, if you want to end your relationship with Adelphia, you'll have to call and cancel your service. Or they'll continue to bill you. When you cancel, they'll send a tech out who'll open the sealed box on the side of your house. Any wire he cuts will be inside that box. There's virtually no chance of them cutting you satellite lines.

Anybody have a date for the Buffalo locals yet? Their press release said "midyear." Well, it's mid year. How much advance notice did the other DMA's receive before their locals were activated?

I had Adelphia cable when I moved into my house 3 years ago... when I cut it off for Dish, I disconnected the cable and pulled it out of their box, and subsequently used that box for my Dish equipment. When I called them to cancel, I told them that I had disconnected the cable coming up from the street, so the tech did all his disco work at the street... didn't touch my stuff. Of course, YMMV.

when Adelphia came to disconnect my line after i switched to dish, they opened the box at my house, on my property and randomly cut about 6 lines (5 more that they "owned") ... essentially they were aggressive vandals who were mad that another of their golden calves had escaped ... IF YOU ALLOW THEM TO DISCONNECT YOU, DO NOT LET THEM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT.

When we got canceled TW cable and got E* 4 years ago, all TW did was shut off our service, they never came to the house. Snopple, no concrete date set for Buffalo locals on D*. Adelphia may be moving out of buffalo, this moring on the radio they said that it is quite possable, and a new cable company may take over the Adelphia areas, but its doubtful Time Warner will expand. I head this info, this moring on THE EDGE, so take it FWIW.

Adelphia was working on a system upgrade in my neighborhood just before all the trouble started in April. We have underground service in my area and when the contractor was upgrading the wiring on our street he hooked up my house (we had been cable-free for five years). When I found out about it I called the local office and the CR rep thanked me for being so honest. They disconnected me without incident the following Monday.

Of course when my next door neighbor was actually stealing cable service about four years ago I called about that too and they never came out. Go figure.
