I meant i think I am the only one having this issue, i doubt it's an issue where every DirecTV customer that scheduled this game to record had the recording stopped prematurely. No one else has even brought it up. It's hard to determine if it's a hardware or software issue. If its a hardware issue, then why aren't any other of my recordings having the same problem, only NBA games on TNT? and if for some reason that's an issue, why does it record 38 minutes and suddenly stop? i have over 90% space left. I did attach a new hard drive about a month ago, but again, no issues with any other recordings. And if it's a software issue, then i wouldn't be the only one affected by this.

Have you recorded any other shows on TNT? I gotta wonder how many folks record basketball games and how many of them come here for help. This is the first time I ever recorded a basketball game...got so interested I placed a bet on the game.

Can't imagine how it could be either a software or a hardware problem. I think this is gonna end up being a broadcast problem. But you make good points.

    I have yet another thought.
Set up a Manual Recording for that date and time. No matter what is on it should record that channel for the time to start and the length that you set for it.

    I like that idea.

No i haven't recorded any other shows on TNT. It may have something to do with it being Live, i don't know... That last game was a HUGE game 7, so i am sure a ton of people recorded it. Haha nice.

How can a broadcast cause a DVR to stop a recording though? A DVR is supposed to record regardless of what's on the actual screen as long as it is in the time frame it's scheduled to be. And obviously there was no change in programming. If it was a broadcast or programming issue, it wouldn't all the sudden stop a recording after 3 minutes or 38 minutes into it.

Yeah i thought of that too, and it should work, but the whole point of DVRs vs. VCRs in the old days is not just watching things on our time, but also the ease of scheduling the recordings with just a press of a button. I mean I can do the manual recordings, but i wouldn't wanna do that every time i wanted to record something. I know, First World problems, but I am also paying a DVR service fee every month and if it's gonna malfunction, then i should get credited.

We are only trying to see if we can get around the problem for now.

I have no idea how this happens. You're right, the DVR should record what you've programmed. If I can get the whole game tonight and you have problems on your end that I don't see...what will we think? In the back of my mind I keep thinking about a similar problem some time ago that was caused by a router or WiFi system. Inky (properly known as Inkahauts) came up with the answer IIRC.

I have the next game scheduled normally. That gets played tonight. I'm gonna do a manual recording of that on my 44 and see if that's any different than the other recording.

But again, why would it be just on this channel and during a basketball game. shouldn't i have problems with other programs too? and its just certain games on TNT. I also recorded games on ABC without any issues.

I am doing both a manual recording and a regular one of the game tonight with added extra time to it. We'll see if one works fine and the other doesn't.

I do not think extra time on the recording of the game will help.
What I intended was to record the program proceeding the game and tack the extra time onto that recording.
This would eliminate the name of the game from the recording and possibly not cut it off.

The manual recording would show if the game actually disappeared while it was supposed to be recording.

I just watched (blew thru) both recordings and saw no problems. What happened on your end?

Yeah both the regular and manual recording was fine for me. It's random, like i said. It would be interesting to see if the next time it happens to me, if it happens to anyone else, but i have a feeling it's just on my end, i just don't know the cause.

Yes, if the DVR is having problems you will/should see those problems on other channels. I don't think the problem is caused by your 54. I've never seen a DVR pick a particular channel and screw up the recordings. I don't think that's possible. I can't see cabling problems doing this. I don't think a misaligned dish would do this. I don't see a power issue. Don't see a reason to think it's a grounding issue. Can't believe it has anything to do with the dish. Most certainly not the HDD.

Which basketball game are you gonna record next?

I'm gonna PM Inky, see if he can think of anything. I think it's something on your end too but tell me which games you are gonna record and I'll record them as well. If I see the same thing you do that should prove it's a broadcast problem, no?

I will be recording all the games left in the NBA playoffs. There are 2 series going on right now. Raptors/Bucks will be on TNT and Warriors/Trailblazers will be on ESPN. And the winner of both series will be in the NBA Finals on ABC. Here is the broadcast schedule. I've only had problems on TNT. I think i've had this problem very rarely in the past, but I did attach a new hard drive about a month ago and i believe this has happened 3 times now all on during TNT basketball games. But again, if it's a hard drive problem, why would it only happen during live basketball game on TNT. and the cut-off point is random as it was cut off at 38 minutes one game and at 3 minutes the other. I forgot what point into the recording the other one stopped, but it wasn't anything like 3 minutes.

Sounds good. I will be recording all the playoff games left as i mentioned in my other post. I just doubt it is a broadcast problem, cause that would mean it is effecting everybody who tried to record the games and there would be potentially hundreds of thousands if not millions of people going crazy if vital games like these were cut off from people's recordings.

I cannot see a hard drive causing this. I'll try to record the games that are on TNT. Have patience.

    A few questions...

Are you connected to the internet? Is your internet fast or flaky? And how is it connected?

And I didn’t see where you said what market you are in?

How have you been setting up the recordings? Finding them in the guide and hitting record? What else do you have set up to record on your DVR? Do you use booleans at all?

Anything else set to record at the same time as these games? How many other things? Please be detailed on that if you can be with start and stop times.

How long after you turn off the c61k do these recordings start?

Do you ever have breaks ups on tnt programs or any other channels?

Something is off... it’s just a matter of what.

Oh and when was the last time you cleared out your guide data?

What hard drive did you chose to add onto the DVR? How’d you add it, internal or external? Did you copy the old drive or just start a new one?

Need to figure out some variables here, but there’s quite a few possibilities.
