Doesn't anyone else think the HD picture is soft? I immediately noticed this on thursday night while True Hollywood Story - Giuliana Rancic was on. The pic was consistenly soft throughout the program. Then I checked Chelsea Lately and the quality was the same. Wasn't bad but a significant difference between E! HD and other HD channels.
I rarely watch E! but I checked it out when I knew the HD feed lit. I noticed the same thing, "soft" picture, a little blurry. Perhaps it's a source issue with E!'s feed.

Not sure about that, but the channel on Xfinity is much sharper than the one on D* doing a A/B comparison. Especially noticeable in the corner bug.

Nevermind, there is a bug in the HR34. Even with Hide SD Duplicates turned on, the damn DVR was still tuning to the SD version of E!. After I edited the favorites list to remove the checkmark on E! SD, and added the checkmark to E! HD, the channel looks a lot better now on D*, but its still a tad bit fuzzier than Xfinity.
I can do a fios compare but right now there is a show from 2004 on and it looks crappy on both. The bug looks the same...

It does seem a little soft to me too. But no softer than Dish Network's feed. Its still much better than overcompressed SD. I'm fine with a little compression to get better than SD pictures for now. When D14 is put in service and more bandwidth is available, then adjustments can be made for sure.

It is a Comcast network though, and Comcast is known for super compressing their feeds. Transponder space costs BIG money. The more they can deliver per transponder the more value they get for that service. No point in DirecTV setting aside bandwidth for a channel when its source never fills that bandwidth. TruTV HD is a 6th channel on a transponder and that looks great. Indistinguishable from something else like Comedy HD for example.

What other channels are on this transponder? If the other 5 networks look soft, we know its a 6:1 compression issue. If not, then its most likely a E! source feed issue. Blame Comcast.

E! looks pretty good in HD. I watched some Chelsea Handler last night and even laughed a couple of times.
Yeah me n the gf too, we've never watched it before cuz D*'s SD lite looks worse than a 1950s kinescope. Ditto with The Soup, funny stuff.

I saw that E! True Hollywood Story as well. I know your talking about PQ, but I could not pull myself away from watching it. She's a sweet & funny person.

See......having channels in HD does make more people watch them. Hint hint, keep adding basic HD D*. ;)
I agree adding E!HD does make people enjoy it to some extent but gossip news gets tiring and annoying plus THE DAMN KARDASHIANS...:D But is better than crappy SD so ADD MORE HD...

Except it looks better on Comcast than DirecTv right now. Not THAT big a difference, but there is a difference.

I recorded two E! shows last night to just check out the HD quality. E! News at 7pm ET and Chelsea Lately at 11pm ET. Neither had the HD logo, and both were in HD.

I need to update my wife's series links today. I think she's got 2 E! shows.

It will just leave Style and WeTV as the only series on her HR34 not in HD, I'm already 100% covered for every series link.

Directv sure wasted space getting E!
I totally agree on this. There is nothing there to watch. From the guide we have "ice loves coco" and Joan Rivers. I will stay with the Science channels and "me-tv" ota for now.

I sure wish BBCA was in HD. I really like Top Gear and Dr. Who.
