We used to watch BBCA when it had Monarch of the Glen, Ballykissangle, Lovejoy, and anything with Charlie Dimmock in it. We used to enjoy Top Gear, but I think it has gotten stale in the last few seasons, (and do not get me started on the US version - it was not even close to the early years of the BBC version). Dr. Who was much better in the 1963 to 1989 run. I could never get into the current (2005 and onward) run. There is nothing on BBCA that we watch anymore.

The only channels still in SD that my wife or I watch are Universal Sports, DIY, Military, WE and Cooking.

Top GearUK was rough at first, especially before they brought in James May. I don't think it's ever aired here.

I rarely watch E! but I checked it out when I knew the HD feed lit. I noticed the same thing, "soft" picture, a little blurry. Perhaps it's a source issue with E!'s feed.
I've noticed it too but I lean toward it being E's program content. In my opinion there are some commercials that look really good and much better than the program airing on E.

I've been wondering for years when E! would finally go HD, not because I watch it but because it's one of my wife's favorite channels.
I just noticed right now as I walked into the living room that it finally went HD.
Funny thing is, my wife had no idea it was even in HD

E! might be in HD now but looking at the guide for 2 weeks I see zero programs that are in HD. There is no HD logo on any program on E!HD.
It usually takes a couple of weeks (possibly sooner) after a channel is added to DirecTV for the HD tags to show up... I don't know why, but that's often the case.

However, even then, they aren't reliable. There are many occasions where a channel will show something in HD, but there aren't any HD tags associated with it, and there are many occasions where a program is listed as being in HD, but it's not.

I haven't been visiting this thread since watching 99% of the programming on E! is akin to being tortured in my eyes, but I did tune in to "The Voice" repeats this past weekend, and one thing became clear... the picture is NOT!!

Seriously folks... record "The Voice" on NBC tonight or tomorrow... then record the repeats on E! Saturday or Sunday and check it out.

Thankfully, this is not a channel I care about, but if the fault lies on DirecTV's end, I'm hoping they figure out the issue for those who do like it, as well as to prevent this from happening with any channels additions that I do care about!

Are you joking? Nothing is ever D*'s fault! Carriage disputes, missing guide info, bad PQ, it's always the other guy's fault. :nono2:

I'm sorry for my rant but who the hell decided to add this channel in HD when there are far better channels out there with way better programming than this crappy gossip channel unless kim kardashian payed Directv or their wives got mad about not being HD, and yes i know all about the Comcrap and Olympics, but unless no one speaks up or email the big heads nothing will ever change, but i guess another basic HD rant over.

Cancel if you don't like it. Emails mean nothing when you continue to pay DirectTV.

And response like that is why nothing ever gets done to satisfy the customers just making sure to raise prices every year, luckily i'm on bill credits for a year and maybe after i'll switch if nothing else happens thereafter, cord cutting or E*.

I think the most likely reason is that the contract was completed and it was ready to go. There's no reason to hold it up until something "better" comes along.

It's not a matter of someone deciding to add E! over something else but rather E! is ready and the others aren't.

Ratings say it's a worthy channel. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others don't.

Thanks for a better response, but sometimes one has to vent till i'm satisfied with "other" channels possibly being in HD, but as long as they keep adding it's all good.

Most other providers already had E! HD. They way I see it, DirecTV is just playing catch up. So if you don't like it and go somewhere else, chances are wherever you go also has E! HD.

I always heard how funny "The Soup" was but never watched it because it was in SD. I wanted E in HD for this and also for the sake of my wife who is into that Hollywood gossip. Are there other HD channels out there they could of picked? Sure, but they also needed this to catch up with everyone else. I'm glad E was added, and I hope next up we see DIY, BBCA, H2, Investigation Discovery and then a few others.
