Yesterday I received a survey (allegedly) from Direct TV. It goes to some other website. Does anyone know if it's a real DTV survery before I complete it?

The first question might be what is the website?

That sounds like a sneaky sales pitch.

Survey was way too long with many questions about Youtube, Netflix, VOD, and if you know anything about whole home systems. Found the survey very repetitive and since they were offering nothing for completing I quit about 1/3 through.

The last survey I got was about an all encompassing protection plan (covered tv, dvd, pc, game system, as well as all Directv systems). It seemed to ask the same 5 or 6 questions 47 different ways.

I was able to finish it. The only item of note was it ended by asking me how interested I would be in accessing Pandora or Skype through the receiver. From that, it seems like D* might be thinking about incorporating more "apps" into the system.

Ditto. I'm guessing it's because I already have access to Pandora and Netflix via my Sony BRP.

I tried it and I admit I got tired of it when it kept asking me questions on DirecTV Cinema, even though I told it that I knew of it but didn't use it. Though before that, when it asked how I learned of a feature (YouTube etc etc) I put Other: DBSTalk.

Pandora will be a nice replacement for the Sonic Tap channels. :D

It's not replacing the Sonic Tap channels.
