E* does this a lot. They have advertise the NFL Network like it was the same as NFL Sunday Ticket.

That reminds me of the Comcast billboards around here that say that their internet services is "Powered by Fiber Optics", trying to get you to think that it is the same as FiOS.

Agree 100%. This came up in conversation and the guy I was talking with was convinced he could get the same coverage of NFL I had at a much cheaper price with E*. They sure are walking a fine line here or have created one of the biggest spin campaigns to battle D* and NFLST.

A couple of weeks ago Charlie Ergen was claiming Dish Network already had the 70 channels DirecTV is promising. Existing Dish subscribers aren't fooled by these claims. Check the Dish forum and you'll see that some of them are already thinking of jumping ship.

I'd like to know where all this magical bandwidth is going to come from too. I mean you need at least a 20"dish 500 just to pick up 110 and 119 Ku. Now add in Ka and the closer spacing of the slots and I don't see how you're going to get Everything in HD and SD one one 18" dish and with all that slots E* had you're going to have to have several 18" dishes not just one.

Let's just wait to see what unfolds. I'm sure E* knows more about what their plans are than anyone in this forum.

Charlie is a funny guy for sure. He slammed DirecTV for saying they might count PPV and Sunday Ticket in their channel count and then he turns around and does the same thing. Funny stuff.

I had a friend of mine almost fooled by this as well. He just believed the ads that said he'd get all the games and NFL 24x7. Ummmm, sure, if you don't mine watching the replay 3 days later at 2 am. :eek2: He finally got it.

Whats bad is alot of new subs would be. PPV, game only regional RSN's that are offered nationally(i still dont understand that one) ect. just to fluff up numbers borders on unethical.

I liked the E* commercial with Tiki Barber where they talked about getting "NFL games every night of the week." How many people do you think got suckered into thinking those were live games?

I think that's what he's counting on - new subs who don't understand what they're getting. Existing subs are seeing all of these new HD channels like USA and SciFi show up on DirecTV, while they're getting Rave and Equator.

Duh, Rave and Equator are good channels. Speak from experience instead of from ignorance.

Speaking from experience - Rave has very little new content. Equator is OK for what it is - but we never watched it much. I thought Monsters was going to be good until I found that it was mostly the same library of films over and over again. Most of the Voom channels have little, if any, new content added, so once you get them for a few months, you've seen most of the content they have. And that is speaking from experience and being a long time Dish Network customer (until last week).

If they have 48, then directv now has 300 or something.

D* opened the door on the fuzzy math when they stated that their "100 HD channels" would include NFL ST and other specialty part-time channels.

    I count D* at 47 now. 42 + 5 RSNs

    E* at 40.

oh they did without a doubt. When they said in the first commercials that they would have 100 HD channels, but the corrected themselves and said "capacity for" and "up to".
I dont think E* has left themselves any room to correct themselves without looking pretty silly

I felt the same way about VOOM stuff when I was an actual VOOM subscriber. When they folded the tents and sold out to E*, I jumped to Comcast. Defected to D* this week and am very happy, BTW.

VOOM stuff was very nice looking. Via VOOM directly, it was some of the best broadcast HD I have ever seen. But, yes, it was VERY repetitive. Sounds as if it's business as usual since they moved over to E*.

Can still get that VOOM feeling by tuning to MHD now. Same concerts and shows day after day.....
