Just imagine watching this new mix channel and one (or gasp! more) of the channels goes to a decabox. - That will be one busy screen. :)

    Sherman...
Looks like they're going to have both Fox (I assume it's included in "four major broadcast networks") and Fox News Channel -- but I'm pretty sure, in the past, the Fox network has just simulcast the FNC coverage. I wonder if DirecTV has inside knowledge that Fox has different coverage plans this year...or if they didn't plan this out as well as they could have, and two of the boxes are going to have the same content in them all night.

Will it automatically tune to dan rather every time he says something like "hold on to your tophats folks, take a look at this...."?

After reading the press release, I found an interesting note in it. It says that it will be offered in standard definition and HD. If this does happen, that would be a departure from the News Mix which is only available in standard definition.

Now will it be a -1 or have the same number?

I asked CSR this, but only rec'd a generic response.
I've an old Spanish package (OPCION ULTRA ESPECIAL). In the past none of the MIX channels were included in the spanish packages, along with a few other ch's (BBCA, ESPN classic, WGN, FMC to name a few). "Tradeoffs" is what one CSR once told me. :(

So when I saw the article about the election mix, I asked a CSR if the election mix will b made available to all (kinda like a free preview). Enter generic response.

I then checked the lineups, and to my surprise, the MIX ch's are now included with current basic (i.e.,BÁSICO ) spanish package. But even then it isn't clear cut, b/c even though the pdf of the ch lineup shows the mix ch's as being part of the BASICO pacakge, the lineup online does not.

OK, so assuming that they ARE part of the BASICO package, my thinking is this: although I have an obsolete package, the ch's I rec are the same as the FAMILIAR ULTRA, (albeit $6 less /month), but still more than the BASICO cost, shouldn't I now be receiving the mix ch's?

This channel is up and running now on 352.

The feeds are: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, FNC, MSNBC, HDNET. No Comedy Central.

Only CNN, FNC and MSNBC are showing anything right now.

All of the pictures are tiny versions of the HD signal, with DD 5.1 where available.

As a note it's running on 102, but they changed the name and that removed it from all favorites lists.

The tiny pictures may be HD, but I have tried both 102 and 352 and when I select a channel (ABC, CBS, CNN and FNC), it takes me to the SD channel. Anyone else have this issue?

Do you have your system set to "hide SD duplicate channels"? If not, try that.

Could you please both post your receiver models? This is a known issue and I'd like to get some more data on it.

    For the record:

My HR21-200 maps to the HD channels
My HR23-700 maps to the SD channels

Yes, I have "Hide SD duplicates" turned on. Same thing has always happened with the News Mix and Sports Mix, it goes to the SD channel.

I really like the idea and will have it on. I just wish, for us left coasters, Dtv would start at 4pm PT, which will be 7pm ET.

The press release indeed indicates that the service will start at 4 pm PT

The 2008 Election Mix service will begin Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT and continue until the end of the broadcast day at 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT. If events warrant, DIRECTV may extend the coverage.

Channel 102 is up and running right now. The vote is even at 0 - 0 :D
