Well to be fair AT&T U-Verse has had Epix since 2014 and it has always been a standalone service. The U450 package is the U-Verse equivalent to DirecTV's Premier doesn't have Epix included and currently is $8/mo. However new U-Verse customers can get their first month of Epix free. I would be a little surprised if AT&T includes Epix in Premier.

I kinda figured they would announce this soon especially since Epix will be premiering Pennyworth on July 28th. They probably want to make sure their customer base can watch a show based off a DC character that is produced by Warner Horizon Television which they also own. o_O

I would not expect AT&T to think that deep about the issue.

If the UVerse carriage was approaching renewal I could see that as a trigger.

Didn't DIRECTV have permission for Epix years ago as part of another renewal and simply did not add the channels? Or was that another movie network?

James, they had the option to add Epix under the last Viacom deal, but they also once said the agreement was in place to carry the Plex series of channels (IndiePlex, MoviePlex, RetroPlex).

i sent a tweet to Directv Twitter about this are they going make you have a higher package to get this?

"Hi Mark! EPIX A La Carte might be available on May 19th, to add the channel would be $5.99/month depending on the plan you can be eligible to add it. Let me know if further assistance is needed."

I asked my friend who works for the local call center about Epix on D* and he stated that Epix is strictly an a la carte service and will not be included in any base package like Premier or Lo Maximo. He said the article about Epix was very clear on this fact. He also said for U-Verse its not included in any package like the U450/U450LA. He pretty much summarized it like this:
    • DirecTV: available starting 5/19
      • $5.99/mo
      • HD service required (no SD feeds will be added)
      • Includes: Epix, Epix2 and Epix Hits
    • U-Verse: already available, no changes
      • $8.00/mo
      • Includes: Epix, Epix (West) and Epix2 - SD & HD feeds
      • Includes: Epix Hits - HD only / Epix Drive-In - SD only
He said in his own personal opinion the most likely reason D* won't have Epix Drive-In is because AT&T only has the channel in SD only on U-Verse.

As mentioned earlier in this thread and in other threads where already you brought this up, the West coast feed is NOT in test mode.

    ONLY these channels are:
    558 Epix East HD
    559 Epix 2 HD
    560 Epix Hits HD

What part of the west coast feed is NOT in test mode don't you understand? These are the ONLY 3 channels in test mode and these ARE their channel numbers, they're not just speculative guesses like you made in the other thread with your own numbering to include West and Drive-In. We are 4 days away from launch date, if the west coast feed was going to be added too, it would have already been put in test mode by now with the rest of them, as we never had a situation where a new channel wasn't put up in test mode at least a week in advanced.
(Even dispute filler that never ends up being used goes up in test mode first, like potential DNS replacements for ABC and Fox when their contracts were up for renewal, and potential replacement Mix channels, including the new Kids Mix. We even had channels that ended up not being part of the final deal or a deal falling apart completely go up in test mode like SD feeds for Fusion and Longhorn even though the ended up being added as HD only channels, or Pac-12 which vanished a week after appearing in test mode back in 2015)

If for some reason that's still not proof for you, the info they posted from myCSP (the support site used by agents) clearly left out the West coast feed in the DirecTV listing of channels and only has it mentioned for U-Verse.

Plus if they were going to move other channels to make room for the west coast feed and Drive-In like you incorrectly speculated in the other thread, the test channels would be using those numbers, and there would already be an INFO/ALERT channel up on 562-1 to tell people well in advanced that DogTV is moving to another number, like what happened when it got displaced from 354 to 562 for Cheddar long before we even knew that Cheddar was going to be added.

I just checked on GO and it's still too dark to see what is going on. I don't know who gave you that info but it fly's in the face of the 10 minute directors commentary on "After the Show" when the director says they filmed it Dark deliberately so that the viewers would be just as confused as the real characters. My take is that this is a case of artistic license gone amuck. They might have liked it but the viewers certainly did not. It's also well known that shooting in the dark can save you tons of money. Episode 5 was also a kick in the jewels for me. I get what they were trying to do but I did not like it! So far this has been a bad season, it's hard to see how they will fix it in the last episode but we will see.

Reading what you quoted, the reviewer said it was still too dark. Which you agree with so ...
I'm not sure how one saves money on overly dark CGI. Does it cost less money not to light the pixels?

It always saves lots of money when you film shots like these in the Dark. Where do I start...
The opening Dalrathy charge was just a bunch of lights running out into a field. Easily done with lit poles on several 40ft trailers or even easier in CGI. A Daylight version would have required 100s of riders and horses plus all the CGI of giants, the dead and the actual fighting and killing of the Dathrathy. instead we just saw torches being outed one by one.

The list goes on, CGI monsters don’t require more than a tenth of the rendering time because you can’t see the details anyway.
Costumes are only needed for the main character carrying the torch’s, the soldiers two rows behind them can be wearing a black jeans pants and a black long sleeve shirt. After all, you can only make out a black figure with a sword in his hand.
There are many other ways it saves in set design and cgi.

Everything KyL416 has said about Epix on D* is correct and my friend even said myCSP only includes the east coast feeds of Epix, Epix 2 and Epix Hits on 558, 559 and 560 respectively. Only U-Verse has the west coast feed for the main Epix channel. He said he's not sure how the test information like this becomes available on the net but in his experience it is always spot on. They didn't even know Epix was in testing for D* and they didn't get any information about Epix until the public announcement came out about the new agreement that dtv757 posted.

Sorry for my late reply I've been engulfed in Euorvision this week :) Go Australia and Iceland!!!

There's a lot of vacant space on D11 and D12 that has yet to be reclaimed after they moved a bunch of RSNs and part time cinema channels to D14 last year for Puerto Rico's version of Sunday Ticket and Extra Innings.
