constant pixelation and audio dropouts across the board with the other receivers

dtv is sending me a 2nd power inserter, theyre 99% sure it will fix the problem. i built the setup in the basement for football sundays specifically; i dont want to miss 3/8 possible games because that box doesnt receive any signal again. it occured to me that my setup diagram is perhaps not 100% accurate, and they may or may not all be on the same 8-way, i tried to test that but so many boxes keep intermittantly going out it is tough to tell without trying them 1 box at a time.

what i have found works, is if i unplug a few of the receivers upstairs from their power supply the ones in the basement start coming back online, and do not pixelate as often. does anyone agree with the power inserter solution? my dad has 8 HDTV at his house with an HR34 & HR24 in his setup as well with only one power inserter, difference being it is plugged into the middle port on the SWM16 and mine is off one of the legs before the HR20.

    You show a SWM8, but call it a SWiM-16.

Are the few unused ports on the splitters terminated with loads?

My guess is a loose connection. I think adding a second power inserter would not help.

How long are the coax from the SWiM-16 to the farthest receivers?

Those 8-ways kill about half the RF power needed.

majority of the coax runs are 75ft. what puzzles me most is that the setup works fine for months and months at a time, then blows up big usually around the time i need it most :sure:

75' isn't too long, so look/inspect all the connections.

BTW your HR20-100 doesn't need a BSF the way you have it shown, but does need it on the SAT #1.

Can you move the SWiM PI to a coax that runs directly to the PWR connector of the -16?
Solid copper core RG6 is needed for the PI to SWiM-16 lines.

I've got to ask the dumb question: You are using a 29 volt PI, right?

"Seems like" a tech service call and his/her AIM [meter] would be a good call.

Oddly enough on the day the tech came (monday) he immediately pegged the hr20 as the problem saying he saw many issues with that receiver in a large environment. He replaced it with an hr24 and i have all the boxes working 100% again.
